G20 police officer Delroy Smellie cleared of assault

A Metropolitan Police officer accused of striking a woman with a metal baton at a G20 protest has been cleared. Sgt Delroy Smellie denied common assault on Nicola Fisher, 36, of Brighton, during the protest in Exchange Square, London, in April 2009. The officer told City of Westminster Magistrates' Court he feared objects in her hand were weapons. The Independent Police Complaints Commission said Sgt Smellie could still face police disciplinary action.
Prosecution 'failed'
District Judge Daphne Wickham found no evidence had been provided to show use of the baton was not measured or correct. She said: "It was for the prosecution to prove this defendant was not acting in lawful self-defence. "The prosecution has failed in this respect and the defendant has raised the issue of lawful self-defence and as such is entitled to be acquitted." The judge said Sgt Smellie had a "mere seven seconds" to act when Ms Fisher ran in front of him hurling abuse at a vigil held on 2 April to mark the death of newspaper seller Ian Tomlinson at a previous demonstration. Mr Tomlinson, 47, died after he was pushed to the ground by a police officer during clashes on 1 April. He had been walking home from work and was not part of the demonstration. Judge Wickham watched video footage of the incident and looked at numerous photographs before coming to a decision on the case, which was heard without a jury. She said circumstances meant the officer was not able to use CS gas and could not call for help from the police cordon. She pointed out that Sgt Smellie had deliberately bent his knees to hit Ms Fisher on her legs, causing a "transient flesh wound". Judge Wickham added: "I am satisfied he honestly believed it was necessary to use force to defend himself." Ms Fisher, who did not give evidence at the trial because she feared her lifestyle may be raised by the defence, said she was "disappointed" by the verdict.
She added: "I'm just glad it's all over. It has been a nightmare. "I stand by what I said."
Thumbs up
The Crown Prosecution Service had claimed Sgt Smellie lost composure because of Ms Fisher's aggressive behaviour. It argued he was justified in pushing her back and striking her with the back of his hand but claimed he went too far by striking her with an extendable metal baton. Ms Fisher was left with severe bruising to her leg. The incident was later viewed by thousands on internet video sharing website YouTube.
Ms Fisher was left with two bruises on her leg
Sgt Smellie smiled and gave two thumbs up to his supporters as he was cleared. The experienced officer, who had claimed he mistook a juice carton in Ms Fisher's hand for a weapon, had always maintained his actions were proportionate. He refused to comment on the outcome of the case, saying: "I don't think so, I have got a reputation to protect." Deborah Glass, of the Independent Police Complaints Commission, said Sgt Smellie could still face Metropolitan Police misconduct proceedings. She said: "People were understandably concerned when footage of this incident was played on the internet and it is right that the actions of the officer were put before a court. "Following today's decision, we will submit our report to the Met for their consideration in relation to any appropriate misconduct sanctions." Sgt Smellie, who was suspended during the trial, has been reinstated and can go back on duty, Scotland Yard said. A spokesman said: "When we have seen the IPCC's recommendations we will consider whether any misconduct proceedings are appropriate. " (my view)-See the pigs got away with violently abusing/hitting the public AGAIN!-I FUCKING HATE THE MORNS........one book of rules for us and NONE for you!

Tagged Trafford pet shop owner 'stunned' by tag

A pet shop owner who was electronically tagged after selling a goldfish to a 15-year-old boy has said she was "stunned" by the sentence Joan Higgins, 66, pleaded guilty at Trafford Magistrates' Court to selling an animal to a person under the age of 16 unaccompanied by an adult. She also admitted causing unnecessary suffering to a cockatiel at Major's Pets, in Sale, Greater Manchester. Trafford Council has defended the decision to pursue the prosecution. Higgins said that she had been in the pet trade for 28 years and would never intentionally harm an animal. She was forced to accept a tag because she is unfit for community work, but said: "I think it's over the top. "I would rather have donated something to a charity... I'd rather have done that than have a tag or a curfew. "You can't always get the balance right. And this particular one (boy) definitely could have passed for 16.
"Now in my shop any doubt and I ask them all for ID."
Officials sent the boy in to make a test purchase after receiving a complaint the shop had sold a gerbil to a 14-year-old girl with learning difficulties, who later dropped it into a cup of coffee. The boy was sold the fish without his age being questioned or providing any information about its care.
Case defended
An animal welfare officer also noticed a cockatiel in the store that appeared in distress and, when examined, was found to have a broken leg and eye problem. Higgins was fined £1,000 and ordered to stay in her house between 1800 BST and 0700 BST. Her son Mark Higgins, 47, who manages the shop, also admitted causing unnecessary suffering and was fined £750 and ordered to carry out 120 hours of community work. The case led to a series of national newspaper headlines bemoaning "Big Brother" snooping by local authorities. But Jonathan Coupe, executive councillor at Trafford Council, said on Wednesday he "wanted to set a few facts straight". He said the "main reason we took this prosecution was because the pet shop owner had caused unnecessary suffering to a cockatiel". Trafford Council had already warned the store about not supplying care information to customers, he added. "Magistrates felt the sentence they imposed reflected the level of cruelty caused to the animal." Animal rights group Peta (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) also backed the council's stance. A spokeswoman said: "Ensuring pet shop owners adhere to basic animal welfare standards is the bare minimal that must be expected by authorities, yet cruelty in the pet trade remains the norm, not the exception." (my view)-Oh yeah! i forgot "The Goldfish"is a dangerous animal.......FUCKING IDIOTS......how the fuck to these pathetic assholes....become cops

Miss Meyer's books have sold more than 45million copies worldwide and have been translated into 37 languages, with teenagers and children particular fans. The first three books in the franchise Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse have been adapted into films - Eclipse will be out in cinemas in July. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were plucked from obscurity to play Swan and Cullen but have become global stars. ‘A new Twilight Saga book from Stephenie Meyer, no matter how short, is the best news in the world for her legions of fans, and great news for bookshops everywhere - this could be the biggest-selling book of the year,' said Waterstone's children's buyer Sarah Clarke.

Why we LOVE OR HATE Twilight

It's wrong to refer to Twilight as "polarising". We read time and again that there are two opposing camps, one of "Twi-hards" and one of "haters". Those of us in the latter don't hate the Twilight series. We're just completely indifferent. That said, when the wave of hype is this potent and often inescapable, we're driven to point out that it's not all that the fans have cracked it up to be. We do have to live with the fact that Twilight 3 will likely be the biggest movie of 2010. If we so much as whisper our disapproval at the endless media coverage lavished on the cast or the crowds driven wild by vamp-hysteria, the franchise's enormous DVD sales and box-office figures are thrown back at us by the devotees as if they somehow prove Twilight's critical worth.
Opposing view: Why we LOVE Twilight
Let's dispel the idea that popularity is directly related to quality. If this was the case, the Mr Blobby song would have been one of the finest musical creations of 1993. If the figures said it all, Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel was one of the ten greatest movies of 2009. The numbers are on your side, teens, but they don't prop up your assertion that Twilight is "da gr8est eva". So what's all the excitement for? Perhaps what frustrates us most is that the vampire myth is so painfully well trodden. It seems like only a week ago that every boy lusted after Buffy and every girl longed to jump into the coffin with Angel. Go back to the 80s and teenagers were going vamp-crazy for The Lost Boys. At least that one was funny. The Twilight kids are not seeing the brighter side. Fans complain that the phenomenon is stereotyped as "teen" but the raw angst and melancholy emitted by the cast is straight out of the "dog ate my homework" book of hating your parents and painting your fingernails black. Unsure of herself and her place in the world, Bella Swan is a character teens can relate to and there's nothing wrong with that. But the sheer misery of watching Kristen Stewart scowl her way through the performance is, frankly, painful. Why couldn't they feed her to the bad vampires and carry on playing vampire baseball? It was almost getting fun for a second there. But she's not the real motor behind the phenomenon is she? There's practically a drum roll when Robert Pattinson first walks into school as Edward Cullen, prompting swoons around the planet. He's a looker for sure. But is the screaming really necessary? Certainly his clunky lines aren't making us want to spend eternity with him: "I feel protective of you," he says between odd dramatic pauses. "You're my own personal brand of heroine," comes next. Then it's "I'm a sick, masochistic lion." He's hardly making the earth shift for us. That said, he's the best thing in the franchise. So it's a shame he barely appears in the second movie, being replaced for the most part by shirtless Taylor Lautner and his high-protein diet. The first movie is low on screen chemistry. The second is devoid of it. Was the midnight queuing outside the local DVD shop really worth a few lines of dire-logue (Bella: "I'm coming." Edward: "I don't want you to come,") and half an hour of Pattinson? Teenage fascination with deathly heroes isn't a new thing, especially if the undead in question are bedroom wall material. But this smacks of overnight phenomenon to the point that you worry for the careers of the young stars involved. Their talents don't deserve to be forever associated with a franchise that will go down as one of the tackier reincarnations of the tired vampire myth.
The Twilight Saga is one of the most loved movie series of recent years. It's also one of the most hated. As teenage girls spend hours watching their favourite teen angst love story/image searching Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner/dreaming of being bitten by a brooding vampire, movie buffs are cursing and criticising it until they're blue in the face. Being as objective as I can, Twilight is good. No, honestly. It's so good I watched the first movie three times in as many weeks. Initially I thought the hype surrounding it (and the new, sexy British actor Robert Pattinson) was a load of old hooey. However, when told by a very adamant friend of mine to watch the DVD, I did, and I was converted in the short space of a few hours. Forget the hundreds of thousands of fan girls. Forget the biased views spewing from the mostly-male movie critic world (film experts hate it because, well, it's not aimed at them).
Opposing view: Why we HATE Twilight
Twilight is a brilliant example of simple yet effective storytelling and interesting cinematography. Not only that, but its impressive soundtrack (Muse, Paramore and Linkin Park) adds to the overall feel of moody, teenage life and those excruciating feelings of love we all remember from our adolescence. Another enjoyable thing about the movie is the way our heroine Bella Swan is obsessed with a vampire who loves her but also really wants to suck at her arteries. She might have the kind of face you want to slap but you're still rooting for her all the way through. New Moon, while not as good as its predecessor (mostly because the focus shifts from sexy vampire Edward Cullen to the overly-muscular werewolf Jacob Black - I'm cheering for Team Cullen) is still one of the best films of 2009. The plot thickens and becomes more implausible with every passing minute, but that only adds to its appeal. Who wants reality anyway? On the plus side, there are more laughs in New Moon than in Twilight, and the music is just as impressive thanks to Muse reprising their role as Best Teen Soundtrack Contributors Ever. Oh, and the aforementioned fan girls get to see Taylor Lautner strut his stuff topless. As the release of the third instalment of The Twilight Saga approaches, I can already hear the tuts and sighs from critics around the world, cracking their knuckles before gleefully slating it. Their views are tainted by the media storm surrounding it, but surely anything that generates this much coverage and takes in that much money has to be pretty decent, right? Going back to basics, this is a straightforward love story set in a world where vampires and werewolves exist among humans. The people in it are good looking, and every scene is filled with so much teenage torment, you're desperate for someone to crack a smile. However, that's a good thing - people love to watch stories they can relate to, and blood-sucking creatures and hairy wolf-boys aside, this is a valid take on reality. I'm not saying Twilight needs to be loved by everyone. It just needs to be understood and respected for what it is - a coming of age romantic tale with some blood on the side.(my view)-As much as i want to crack open the truth here-i must not,but a can tell you that a agree,men/woman vampires in movies should not be sexed up by half undressed ect,but yet again, the movie industry thrives on people watching and buying them so........SEX/SEXINESS sells:( makes me sick

Airport worker 'abused scanner'

An airport worker allegedly caught ogling images of a female colleague in a full-body scanner faces the sack after being given a police warning for harassment. The Heathrow worker, named by The Sun newspaper as 25-year-old John Laker, allegedly made lewd remarks to colleague Jo Margetson, 29, after she entered an X-ray machine by mistake. She reported the matter to her bosses and to police. A spokeswoman for BAA, which runs Heathrow, said: "We treat any allegations of inappropriate behaviour or misuse of security equipment very seriously and these claims are investigated thoroughly. "If these claims are found to be substantiated, we will take appropriate action." The new full-body scanners are being rolled out across UK airports following the failed Christmas Day bomb plot to blow up a jet over Detroit in the US. Their introduction has been opposed by some groups who fear the revealing nature of the images the scanners provide could breach people's rights. The question of privacy was raised in a report on airport security by the House of Commons Home Affairs Committee. The committee said: "Having witnessed these full-body scanners working at first hand, we are confident that the privacy concerns that have been expressed in relation to these devices are overstated and that full body scanners are no more an invasion of privacy than manual 'pat-downs' or searches of bags." One of the bodies that has questioned the legality of scanners is the Equality and Human Rights Commission. Responding to the Home Affairs Committee report, the commission said: "We believe there is a risk that the way body scanning was introduced in UK airports breaches discrimination law, as well as breaching passengers' human right to privacy."(my view)-I told you this would happen first........then the kids

Teachers leave boy, 5, stranded in tree because of health and safety (then report passer-by who helped him down to police)

boy of five was left stranded in a tree at school because of a bizarre health and safety policy - which banned teachers from helping him down. The mischievous pupil climbed the 20ft tree at the end of morning break and refused to come down. But instead of helping him, staff followed guidelines and retreated inside the school building to ‘observe from a distance’ so the child would not get ‘distracted and fall’. The boy was only rescued when passer-by Kim Barrett, 38, noticed the child and helped him down herself.
Good Samaritan: Kim Barrett outside Manor School in Melksham, Wiltshire, where she rescued a pupil stranded in a tree after staff would not get him down
But instead of being thanked for her actions by the headteacher of the Manor School in Melksham, Wiltshire, she was reported to the police for trespassing. Miss Barrett, who lives in Melksham with her six-year-old daughter who attends a different school, said she is ‘surprised’ and ‘shocked’ by the school's policy. She said: ‘I stopped to ask him if he was OK, and it became clear that he'd been there since the end of playtime, which had been around half an hour earlier. ‘I was immediately concerned. I walked over to the school with the boy and was met by the associate head. ‘He didn't appear at all concerned, and was actually very patronising, patting me on the arm and asking me “what do you expect me to do, exactly, dear?” ‘When I said I thought it was a serious incident, he then said his only concern was me trespassing. ‘I was initially surprised that no one appeared to have missed this boy, no one could have known where he was because they could not have seen him from the school, and I was shocked at the way I was dealt with.’ The incident occurred on the morning of March 1 as Miss Barrett was walking home past the side entrance of 213-pupil The Manor Church of England Primary School. She claims that she walked around to the front of the school, onto the playing field and then helped the schoolboy down before taking him back to his class. But the school alleges that she ‘approached the school in an inappropriate way’ and asked her to leave the premises after she got into a row with staff over the boy's welfare. Later that evening a letter from headteacher Beverley Martin was posted through Miss Barrett’s door, explaining that the school had contacted police about the incident. The next morning she was visited by a PCSO who told her she had committed a trespassing offence by helping the young schoolboy down from the tree. Miss Barrett said: ‘I felt really angry because I felt I had saved the school and this boy from something that could have been far worse, and that instead of thanking me I was under investigation. ‘It was ridiculous. He was all on his own, there was no one near him and you couldn't see the school buildings from where he was. ‘Not only was he at least 6ft off the ground, but someone taller than me could easily have reached in from the pavement and plucked him off the branch.’ Headteacher Beverley Martin confirmed that the school's policy prevents staff going to the aid of children who have climbed trees. She said: ‘The safety of our pupils is our priority and we would like to make it clear that this child was being observed at all times during this very short incident. ‘Like other schools whose premises include wooded areas, our policy when a child climbs a tree, is for staff to observe the situation from a distance so the child does not get distracted and fall. ‘We would strongly urge members of the public not to climb over a padlocked gate to approach children as their motives are not clear to staff. ‘To protect children, we cannot assume that people who enter the school grounds without permission have innocent intentions and must act accordingly. ‘If people are concerned about a child's welfare then they should go to the reception and alert a member of staff, who will be happy to help. ‘I am sure these expectations are the same in every school and are centred on children's wellbeing.’ A letter sent to Miss Barrett by Wiltshire Council added: ‘You may well have acted initially out of concern for the safety of the child but any such concerns should have been raised with a member of staff. ‘You subsequently behaved in a verbally aggressive manner to a member of staff(my view)- With the nanny state watching and governmental rules, teachers ect are milking the rules so they do NOT have to do work or rescue a boy from a tree,if my kid was stuck up a tree and i was a teacher at said school and in the rules it said i can't help because of health and safety.....I'd say"FUCK YOU"i'm helping that kid because he could fall and die you moron

Soham killer 'in line for payout'

Soham murderer Ian Huntley could be awarded £20,000 compensation after his throat was allegedly slashed during an attack in prison, reports suggest. Huntley may sue the Prison Service for negligence, according to media reports after the attack by a fellow prisoner left him needing hospital treatment. The 36-year-old's throat was reportedly slashed during an assault in Frankland Prison, County Durham, where he is serving two life sentences for murdering schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman. The Prison Service said Huntley's current state is not life-threatening. A spokesman said: "A prisoner at HMP Frankland was assaulted by another prisoner at about 3.25pm on Sunday March 21. The prisoner was taken to outside hospital for treatment but has now returned to prison." Prison officials launched an investigation into what happened. It was reported that Huntley's throat was slashed with a makeshift knife, and the child killer was found by prison staff lying in a pool of blood. He was convicted in December 2003 of murdering Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, who were both 10, after they vanished from their homes in Soham, Cambridgeshire, in August 2002. The murder of the two girls sent shockwaves across the country. Huntley was given two life terms after being convicted of the girls' murders. Maxine Carr was jailed after being convicted of perverting the course of justice and has now been released from prison. Meanwhile, the stepson of the man reported to have slashed Hutley's throat said he "did it for Holly and Jessica". Damien Fowkes, 34, from Northampton, was reportedly jailed for life in 2001 after carrying out a knifepoint robbery so he could get money for drugs. Fowkes's stepson Lewis told The Sun: "He did it for Holly and Jessica and I'd like to pat him on the back. Most people will think Damien is a hero. I think he should be given a medal. The only pity is he didn't do a better job." Fowkes's mother Jayne, 51, said her son has a daughter near the age of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman. Ms Fowkes told the newspaper: "He loves his daughter so much and I'm wondering if that's what set him off."(my view)-PRISONERS HAVE NO RIGHT..they automatically gave any up as soon as they commit the crime-plus it was an attack ie:attacks are surprise GBH's or killings....meaning the officers had no prior information of the attack, plus prisoners have no rights to sue for attacks that are that...ATTACKS-they have no rights to sue....PERIOD!they have no rights what so ever

SMOOTH MOVE

Florida Highway Patrol troopers investigating a crash on Cudjoe Key determined the cause: as she drove, a 37-year-old woman was shaving her ...uh... "bikini area" while her ex-husband, in the passenger seat, was steering. After rear-ending another vehicle, they drove another half-mile, and her ex allegedly switched seats with her. As for the unusual distraction, "She said she was meeting her boyfriend in Key West and wanted to be ready for the visit," said Trooper Gary Dunick. "If I wasn't there, I wouldn't have believed it." The day before the crash, driver Megan Mariah Barnes was convicted of drunk driving (not her first offense), and driving with a suspended license. Her license was revoked for five years, and she was ordered to turn in her car for impound. After the crash, Barnes was arrested and charged with hit and run, reckless driving, driving without insurance, and driving with a revoked license. Her ex-husband was not charged. (Key West Citizen) ...Since once the trooper heard the story, he could understand why he wasn't watching the road. (my view)- Why the fuck was she in the drivers seat......if she was shaving...how stupid can humans be?
Thankyou Kim for this article

Man claims record number of fingers and toes

A man in India has claimed the unofficial record for the most number of fingers and toes on a living person. Heramb Ashok Kumthekar, a 24-year-old business graduate, was born with 12 fingers and 14 toes, a total of six digits on each hand and seven digits on each foot.
But he does not hold the official Guinness world record.
This is because some of his fingers are attached to each other and are therefore not classed as separate digits. However Heramb is recognised by the Indian equivalent of the Guinness Book of Records, the Limca Book of Records. The official Guinness world record is currently held by fellow countryman Devendra Harne, who has 12 fingers and 13 toes on his feet. Heramb's extra fingers and toes are caused by the medical condition polydactlyism, which comes from the Greek for "many fingers". It is a congenital condition that occurs in one in every 500 births. While each of Heramb's extra fingers and toes have separate bones, they don't all boast nerve endings and he is unable to move them or feel them all properly.

Households 'now £17,000 worse off'

The average household is more than £17,000 worse off than they were at the start of the recession, research has shown. A combination of house price and stock market falls have reduced the value of the average household's assets by £17,480, according to financial services firm MetLife. The group, which analysed figures from the Office for National Statistics, said people's household wealth, which includes the value of their home, their pension fund, savings and investments, stood at around £350,600 at the end of last year. But people are still better off than they were in 2008, when £27,000 was knocked off their household wealth due to the problems in the housing market and stock market falls. The average household has 39% of its wealth tied up in property, with the same proportion held in pension funds. A further 11% is held in savings and investments, with the balance made up from personal possessions such as cars and household items. Dominic Grinstead, managing director of MetLife's UK Branch, said: "The end of the recession in the UK is a genuine sign of hope for the future and it is undoubtedly good news that 2009 saw a rise in average household wealth. "However households are still counting the cost of stock market volatility and at £17,480 the cost is not trivial."

Can brain scans help companies sell more

Neural marketing-In the battle for our money and loyalty, companies wanting to sell us products have turned their attention to something right under our noses. Or behind our noses. The brain is now being called the ultimate business frontier and technology is letting firms take a look inside our heads. In this neurological market research participants wear a cap fitted with brain sensors as they watch adverts. Emotional response, attentiveness and memory function are all measured. An electroencephalogram or EEG, a painless brain scan, allows researchers to track the electrical impulses across the surface of the brain. I volunteered as a guinea pig to see how it works. EEG's have been around for roughly ninety years and are regularly used in medical applications for diagnosing epilepsy. In the last two decades the technology has moved on. Activity used to be recorded using pens on moving paper, now it can be digitised instantaneously into graphs. The equipment has also recently become a lot smaller and more portable so the marketing experts now believe it can be used more widely as a tool for studying the reactions of potential consumers.
Trade secrets
In the demonstration of the technique, I was fitted with something that looked a bit like a swimming cap full of holes. Sensors which capture brainwave activity 2,000 times a second were plugged into the holes. A gel was squeezed into the holes to allow my brain's electrical signals to be picked up. As the sensors were fastened in place in the cap and two put by my eye to monitor blinking, Darren Bridger, director of lab operations at Neurofocus Europe, explained the basics. "Computers now allow you to aggregate the results and sample more people. You can also calibrate responses according to previous results. "You get different responses depending on whether you're looking at a large or a small screen; say a television or a mobile phone. And if you're walking around a supermarket you're going to get a different response from if you're looking at a static screen." My sensor cap was covered with a floppy hat before we filmed. Darren explained that was to hide trade secrets, the location of the sensors, from competitors. It seems neuromarketing is a cut-throat business - financial stakes from potential clients in the world of marketing and branding are high. As it was Monday morning, I wasn't too sure how much brain activity I would have going on but as the equipment fired up different coloured lines started to squiggle across the screen. I was given a couple of short films to watch. My brain waves appeared as constantly updating graphs. These are translated into indicators for attention, emotion and memory. Algorithms are used to calculate which scenes you like the most.
Appealing penguins
After the first film Neurofocus's Quentin Baldwin, who demonstrates the technology for clients, pronounced that I liked penguins. This is not unusual, he explained, most people find penguins appealing because their waddling movements resemble small children walking. I was slightly uncomfortable with the idea of my thoughts and reactions being spied on. After the second promo Quentin told me my subconscious had really liked the giraffes as well as the faces. "As humans we're really drawn to faces, especially close up faces, eyes and things like that. Neurologically they appeal a lot," he told me. Nothing too sinister revealed there then. In a real sample at least 24 participants are used and between 64 and 128 sensors per head are used to measure the reaction to a company's messages and products. The sensors are used in conjunction with eye tracking equipment to give an overall picture of the subject's reactions.
Subconscious shopping
But to what extent can a brain scan really determine our preferences? Professor Nilli Lavie, from the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience at University College London, expressed some doubt. She also pointed out the possible benefits. "Neural marketing is becoming a hot topic in the marketing and scientific communities," she said. "In general, the approach can be very productive and may potentially reveal information about the consumer's brain that would otherwise be hard to obtain. "But in some areas I think the gap between what we know scientifically and what we know about predicting consumer choice is still too big. "Neuro-scientific research can be used to find out what type of marketing tools or advertisements better attract the consumers attention." But she cautioned that it might be more difficult to find out what exactly dictates the consumer's choice in terms of what they eventually purchase. "At the end of the day we have to accept that, to some extent, purchases may also be decided upon by whimsical, impulsive urges." Professor Lavie said there was another type of neuroimaging that might be preferable. Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) gives a clearer indication of what is going on in the consumer's mind. It provides better spatial resolution, meaning you can tell more easily which brain areas are active. "When it comes to specific neural marketing tools the clearest method and the one that has been researched the most in the scientific domain would be brain scanning with fMRI." It is an expensive route to take though. "A big concern is that one needs to assess the cost versus the benefit and the cost is naturally very high for use in these methods," added Professor Lavie. Researchers expect neuromarketing to become more accurate and more widely used. Our subconscious is getting involved in the shopping experience as never before. (my view)-Looks like FORCED SLAVERY is coming back with government backing, first making us shop and get into more debt than we can imagine, working in conditions that is very dangerous and more.........the governmental shits will not stop!our free will will be controlled,WE MUST STOP THEM...just when you thought our freedom was taken away already they produce this to control us all

Hidden problem of children sexually abusing children

To find out your five-year-old son has been sexually abused is, of course, devastating. But how do you cope when you find out that his abuser is his seven-year-old sister? Claire's daughter Hannah was discovered abusing her brother, late last year. Both names have been changed to protect their identities. "That was probably the darkest week of my life without a doubt," explains Claire. "All the anger and the rage, the confusion, the revulsion. I couldn't look at her. I wanted to grab my son and run and never see her again. I was just terrified." But Claire had more to face when it quickly emerged that Hannah had also been sexually abusing several other children. Hannah is typical of one third of the children who display sexually harmful behaviour - to use the preferred clinical terminology - in that she has also been sexually abused herself.
Learned behaviour
Hannah was regularly sexually assaulted by a teenage boy for around two years. "She didn't understand at the beginning what she was doing was wrong. For her it was just learnt behaviour," explains Claire. "Her interaction with other people was all based on that because it went on for two years. So that can't be wiped away, we just have to steer her away in a different direction." Claire says that finding out what had been happening has had a devastating effect on her relationship with her daughter. Initially, she says, she even questioned whether she would be able to love Hannah again and rebuilding trust in her little girl is still proving hard. "Even after all this period of time has passed I still worry, what's she doing? I worry when she's at school. Is she being monitored? Is everything ok, are other children safe around her and what will the future be?" It is a startling fact that one-third of those who sexually abuse children are just children themselves; something which challenges our notions of childhood and understanding of what children are capable of.
Dismissed as play
Claire says that her experience has made her realise just how taboo the subject is with people, most of whom prefer to think that what is actually sexually harmful behaviour is just normal childhood playing. Even professionals, she says, questioned whether she was misinterpreting what her daughter had been doing. "If I hadn't been thrust into it in such a horrible way, I wouldn't have wanted to believe it either," she says. "But this wasn't kiss chase. This wasn't something innocent... it was a sexual act. It wasn't role play in a childlike way. "It was something you might imagine seeing in a late-night porn show." Hannah and her family are now receiving treatment with a specialist counsellor at a project run by the charity Action for Children. But the experts who work with children like Hannah say many of them are not getting the help they need to stop. The systems in place to deal with this problem are often so inadequate that child professionals either do not spot sexual abuse being carried out by children or - perhaps even worse - they recognise it but do not know what to do about it.
Problem ignored
Consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist Dr Eileen Vizard works with many of the most disturbed young people in Britain and is a leading expert on children who display sexually harmful behaviour. In the past, she worked with one of the boys who sexually assaulted and murdered James Bulger. By the time young people get to her unit they are extremely dangerous sexual abusers. But she says that in many cases their problematic sexual behaviour has been spotted by other professionals years earlier, who through panic or poor training, either ignore it or mark it down and pass on the file. "Our research shows that they may wait on average four-and-a-half years before they come to be seen by us. Often that child's case will come in with a huge amount of associated background information. "Sometimes there are boxes of meticulously written notes which I would have thought that anybody reading would think 'this isn't too good, why don't we do something?'" Dr Vizard is not alone. Several specialists have said they are equally frustrated by the lack of action. One doctor - who did not want to be named - said it was not uncommon for a serious teenage sex offender to be referred to him, complete with a detailed chronology marking down instances of very problematic sexual behaviour dating back to when he was three or four years old, but nothing had been done.
Support patchy
Inconsistencies in the way young abusers are dealt with are also a concern. Professor Simon Hackett, whose work at Durham University focuses on child welfare, conducted a survey of services available across the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Forty percent of respondents said they had no access to any kind of assessment service in their area, and only 8% said they were satisfied with the availability and quality of intervention services. Prof Hackett says that effectively what exists is a postcode lottery. "Three 13-year-olds in different parts of the country behaving in the same way - one of them may get no service at all and the family might be left on their own struggling with how to help that child. "The second child might be given a child in need service routed through the Child Welfare Service, and the third child maybe convicted and sent through a criminal justice system."
Failure to act
For several years there has been widespread recognition, even within government, that the system is not working as it should. As far back as 2003, former Lord Chancellor and Justice Secretary Lord Falconer acknowledged it was an area which had been neglected and there was a need for a national strategy. In 2006, the then Prime Minister Tony Blair, said such a strategy for England could be expected by the end of that year. It was again expected by the end of 2009, but the Department of Health have now pushed that back to the coming summer. Dr Vizard, who contributed detailed submissions to a draft strategy around five years ago, is mystified by the delays, but certain of their impact. "I do think the main cost has been with the victims who have been created by these children and adolescents who have not been able to access good services because whilst they have not been helped... more victims have been created, [and] have suffered a very great deal."
Slipped through the net
One woman who knows that from bitter experience is Liz Neailey. Her 11-year old son, Wesley, disappeared from his home in Newcastle in June 1998. Wesley's body was found a month later. He had been battered with a wrench and strangled. His murderer was 18-year-old Dominic McKilligan. He had a string of convictions for serious sexual assaults against young boys dating back to when he was just 11 years old - all known to a variety of different agencies. A review found a litany of missed opportunities and attacked the authorities for failing to work together, effectively letting McKilligan slip through the net. Among its key recommendations was an urgent need for a national strategy to deal with young sex offenders, but nearly 12 years since her son's death Mrs Neailey is still waiting.
For her the delays are quite simply a betrayal.
"They've let me down, they've let my dead son down and they've let other children down. When are they going to take things seriously? "We need these strategies put in place, not just to help my children, but your children and your grandchildren too." (my view)-Well...the government wanted kids to learn all about sex education from a VERY young age and made it compulsery(5 and up)well........now look...they got their wish

Man thrown off train over set list

A musician has spoken of his shock at being removed from a train for "behaving suspiciously" by writing a list of songs which included the band name The Killers. Tom Shaw was travelling on a South West Trains when he began writing a list of song titles which his band The Magic Mushrooms would play at a forthcoming gig. But the 25-year-old was approached by two security staff employed by the train company and asked to leave the train at Fareham railway station. Mr Shaw, who works with young people with learning difficulties, said they told him he had been behaving suspiciously and asked him to explain the list he had been writing. The set list included Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand, Cigarettes and Alcohol by Oasis and Love Me Like You by The Magic Numbers. Mr Shaw, of Portsmouth, Hampshire, said his band also intended to play All These Things That I've Done by The Killers but he had simply written "killers". He told the Portsmouth News: "They made me get out at Fareham and when I asked what was wrong they told me to show them the piece of paper I'd been writing on. They said I'd been behaving suspiciously. I couldn't understand it. It seemed very strange as it was only a list of songs. We had a gig coming up so I was writing out what we could play. They made me explain song by song." Mr Shaw added that the security staff told him that he had been questioned because there had been a number of arrests in the area including a man who had murdered his wife. A South West Trains spokeswoman said Mr Shaw was asked politely to leave the train because it was busy and the officers wished to speak to him about their concerns. She added: "We employ a team of highly professional rail community officers who work closely with the British Transport Police in protecting the security of passengers on the rail network. During a routine high-visibility patrol back in early March, they talked with a passenger on the platform at Fareham station. The team clarified the nature of the individual's business, were satisfied with his explanation and the man went on his way. We would like to thank the passenger for his co-operation and understanding of the need to be vigilant in the current environment."

Treatment for tech-addict children

Children who are hooked on computer games, the internet or their mobile phone can now seek help from what is thought to be the first dedicated technology addiction service for young people in Britain. Capio Nightingale Hospital, in central London, launched the service following calls from parents concerned about their children's behaviour. Consultant psychiatrist Dr Richard Graham said parents told him their children flew "into a rage" when they were told to turn off their computer and police had even been called to sort out the rows. Dr Graham, who is leading the new addiction treatment, said services need to "adapt quickly" to help young people affected by technology addiction - who he dubbed "screenagers" - rather than sticking with the same treatment models used for substance abuse. "Mental health services need to adapt quickly to the changing worlds that young people inhabit, and understand just how seriously their lives can be impaired by unregulated time online, on-screen or in-game," he said. "We have found that many of the existing services fail to recognise the complexity of these situations, borrowing from older models of addiction and substance misuse to very limited effect. "This is why Capio Nightingale Hospital has launched the first Young Person Technology Addiction Service, which we hope will address the underlying causes of this addiction to transform screenagers back into teenagers." The treatment aims to increase off-screen social activities and improve the person's confidence in face-to-face situations, the lack of which may have made them more susceptible to technology addiction. It also encourages them to think about their relationship with their phone, computer games or social networking websites like Facebook and teaches them skills to help them to switch off. Dr Graham told the London Evening Standard the technology addicts - who he compared to gambling addicts - were hyper-stimulated so they were "always on the alert" and could suffer withdrawal symptoms like agitation. I've been contacted by parents who see their children going into a rage when they're told to turn off their computer. Some end up having to call the police," he said. Other clinics, including The Priory, offer treatment for internet addiction but have no dedicated service for young people.(my view)-This is just another con for MORE money raped from our hands, plus this will not cure addicts as tech is thrusted in peoples faces day in day out.....the governments to blame and then they blame us for addiction when their the suppliers

Katie Price plans second wedding

Katie Price has told of her plans for a second marriage ceremony with Alex Reid following her whirlwind trip down the aisle in Las Vegas. The reality TV star said the blessing this summer would be a "family thing" and a DIY job. She also told This Morning that she intended to keep her life more private - before revealing she was having her period. "We are doing a blessing in the summer 'cos we want all our family there," Price told the ITV1 show. "And obviously (Reid's) mum would like to see her son get married ... so yeah, I can't wait." She said the couple would make the arrangements for their blessing together. "We're both going to decide together and get our families involved, his mum, my mum. We're all going to do it as a family thing, how really it should be done, not how other people tell you to do it. "We're not going to have a wedding planner, we're literally going to do it ourselves." Talking about her marriage to cage fighter Reid, Price, who was previously wed to singer Peter Andre, said: "I absolutely love it being married again. It's just completely different ... We're actually looking to buy a house together." She confirmed she had barred filming of her Las Vegas wedding ceremony to Reid. Price said: "We didn't do a magazine deal and we didn't let the cameras in 'cos we just wanted it private. It's not a Pete and Kate relationship. It's more private this time."(my view)-"We didn't do a magazine deal and we didn't let the cameras in 'cos we just wanted it private"........shes a fucking lier, shes doing it again for the money as the first time she wanted to HURT peter.....FACT!and when she learn't she didn't she thought"o'well!i'll do another one to get more money

Man shocked to 'death' on TV show

A French TV show which invited contestants to give a man increasingly large electric shocks until he apparently died said it was astonished by their willingness to comply. The Game Of Death, which goes out on Wednesday night on the state-owned France 2 channel, recruited ordinary people who had no idea they were being set up. Based on a US psychological experiment in the 1960s, the man apparently being shocked is zapped each time he gets a quiz question wrong. Each time the show's hostess urged contestants to turn up the voltage until the man screamed in pain with the audience, who also believed the game was real, shouting "punishment" as encouragement. Eventually the "victim" appeared to drop dead. "We were amazed to find that 81 per cent of the participants obeyed" the sadistic orders of the television presenter, said programme-maker Christophe Nick. "They are not equipped to disobey," he added. "They don't want to do it, they try to convince the authority figure that they should stop, but they don't manage to," he told French news agency AFP. Out of 80 players, just 16 walked out refusing to administer the shocks.

Dog recovers after eating football

Bracken the labrador ended up with the deflated ball stuck next to his heart after munching it while out of sight of his owner John Grant and would have died without surgery. Mr Grant realised the two-year-old dog needed medical attention when he started coughing incessantly

Boy, 12, one of youngest prisoners

A 12-year-old boy who has committed more than 30 crimes has become one of the UK's youngest prisoners when he was given a 10-month custodial term. Magistrates in Witham, Essex, heard that the youngster, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, had a criminal record which included convictions for assault and aggravated vehicle taking. They said he had breached "many" previous court orders and committed "many" offences while on bail. The boy, who lives near Chelmsford, appeared in court to be sentenced after admitting his latest crimes - assaults on a woman and a man and aggravated vehicle taking. Magistrates said he would be eligible for release after serving at least five months in a detention centre. The youngster, who was dressed in a combat-style green jacket, sat with a care worker in the court dock during the hearing. Magistrates refused an application by journalists to lift reporting restrictions and allow the youngster to be named in media reports. Reporters argued that the public should know who the boy was to help police prevent him from committing further crimes But magistrates said the youngster was "too young" and "vulnerable" - and ordered that his identity should not be made public. Prosecutors said the boy had compiled his "appalling" criminal record before turning 12. They said he had committed his latest crimes near Chelmsford in early February when aged 11. The court heard that the youngster had lived in London before moving to Essex and appeared before magistrates in Croydon.(my view)-Kids make me sick the way they act........fucking pathetic shits

Katie to launch children's make-up?

Katie Price is reportedly planning to launch a range of edible children's make-up modelled by her daughter Princess. The 31-year-old glamour model, aka Jordan - who incurred the wrath of ex-husband Peter Andre earlier this year when she gave her two-year-old daughter a make-over with false eyelashes and posted the picture on Facebook - reveals her plans on her ITV2 reality show What Katie Did Next?, The Sun reports. Katie says on her show: "Obviously the story would be she nicks my make-up all the time, it's not safe for her to use a lady's mascara... edible lipstick, little case with wipes to take your make-up off - you can get a nice case for make-up wipes, lipsticks, blushers and mascara and nail varnishes." The manager of her perfume brand is heard telling her: "There will be a lot of PR from this because it can be quite controversial." The pair then burst out laughing Princess nods when asked if she would like her own make-up, which they decide would be named after her. The manager says: "We've got a model, we've got a name, we just need a product." Warned she will face a backlash over the sexualisation of young girls, Katie retorts: "That's why I like to do it. For all you haters out there." Peter was furious when a picture of Princess wearing make-up and false eyelashes was put on Facebook last month. He said: "If I'm honest, I'm absolutely disgusted and to me that's the worst thing to be worried about. It's a two-year-old girl and to me that's disgusting."(my view)-Just when you think she can't get anymore degrading, stupid, pathetic(need i go on?)she wants to whore up little kids......she is a fucking DISGRACE TO HUMANITY AND KIDS EVERYWHERE......and she won mum of the year to lol.........stupid public....BTW i didn't post her picture that was with this because katie just grosses me out......shes fugly to and this"For all you haters out there"when said she'll receive backlash for sexualising young kids" its for the money she gets for her stories and interviews...that's it.........she cares for no one but herself and money

All Wet

Quan and Angelina Ha wanted to be better citizens, and not use so much water in arid southern California. The couple used 299,221 gallons of water in 2007, and figured their landscaping was using most of it. Paying for the water was bad enough, but municipalities were starting to fine people for using too much water during droughts. "We've got a newborn, so we want to start worrying about her future," Quan said, so the couple tore out their lawn and other thirsty plants, replacing it all with bark chips and drought-tolerant plants. In 2009 their water use was down to 58,348 gallons -- more than an 80 percent reduction. No good, the City of Orange said: city law requires that 40 percent of a yard must be landscaped "predominantly with live plants," and officials aren't impressed by the Has' conservation efforts. The city has sued the couple, and filed misdemeanor criminal charges against them. "Compliance, that's all we've ever wanted," said Senior Assistant City Attorney Wayne Winthers.

Police in Australia have charged a 92-year-old woman with killing her 98-year-old husband. Clare Tang is due to appear in court on Tuesday on a murder charge after her husband was found dead in their apartment in downtown Sydney on Friday night. New South Wales state police said in a statement that C.Y. Tang was found in the lounge and that he had suffered head wounds. A cause of death was still being determined.
Clare Tang was arrested at the scene.
Family friend George Tsoi said the couple were from Shanghai, China, and owned restaurants in Singapore. He said they had been married for about 70 years, and that Tang appeared to love her husband deeply, it was reported.

UK couple facing jail for kissing

A British couple are appealing against a jail sentence after being accused of sharing a passionate kiss in a Dubai restaurant. Cosmopolitan Dubai has the most lenient social codes in the Gulf, but authorities can still crack down on people charged with pushing the limits. Ayman Najifi, a Briton working in Dubai, and a female tourist were arrested in November after a complaint about public kissing. They were convicted of inappropriate behaviour and other charges, earning them a month in jail. The couple said it was just a "peck on the cheek".
A court has set the appeal for April 4.
In 2008, two Britons were sentenced to three months in jail for what authorities described as sex on the beach. The sentences were suspended.(my view)-This is beyond absurd and childish.....kissing lol kissing leads to sex-sex leads to pregnancy, pregnancy leads to the human race.....IF WE DON'T HAVE KISS AND HAVE SEX THEY'LL BE NO HUMAN RACE...FUCKKKKK I HATE THIS DUMB ASS FUCKING MORONIC SHIT HOLES OF COUNTRIES.

French bread spiked with LSD in CIA experiment

A 50-year mystery over the 'cursed bread' of Pont-Saint-Esprit, which left residents suffering hallucinations, has been solved after a writer discovered the US had spiked the bread with LSD as part of an experiment. An American investigative journalist has uncovered evidence suggesting the CIA peppered local food with the hallucinogenic drug LSD. In 1951, a quiet, picturesque village in southern France was suddenly and mysteriously struck down with mass insanity and hallucinations. At least five people died, dozens were interned in asylums and hundreds afflicted. For decades it was assumed that the local bread had been unwittingly poisoned with a psychedelic mould. Now, however, an American investigative journalist has uncovered evidence suggesting the CIA peppered local food with the hallucinogenic drug LSD as part of a mind control experiment at the height of the Cold War. The mystery of Le Pain Maudit (Cursed Bread) still haunts the inhabitants of Pont-Saint-Esprit, in the Gard, southeast France. On August 16, 1951, the inhabitants were suddenly racked with frightful hallucinations of terrifying beasts and fire. One man tried to drown himself, screaming that his belly was being eaten by snakes. An 11-year-old tried to strangle his grandmother. Another man shouted: "I am a plane", before jumping out of a second-floor window, breaking his legs. He then got up and carried on for 50 yards. Another saw his heart escaping through his feet and begged a doctor to put it back. Many were taken to the local asylum in strait jackets. Time magazine wrote at the time: "Among the stricken, delirium rose: patients thrashed wildly on their beds, screaming that red flowers were blossoming from their bodies, that their heads had turned to molten lead." Eventually, it was determined that the best-known local baker had unwittingly contaminated his flour with ergot, a hallucinogenic mould that infects rye grain. Another theory was the bread had been poisoned with organic mercury. However, H P Albarelli Jr., an investigative journalist, claims the outbreak resulted from a covert experiment directed by the CIA and the US Army's top-secret Special Operations Division (SOD) at Fort Detrick, Maryland. The scientists who produced both alternative explanations, he writes, worked for the Swiss-based Sandoz Pharmaceutical Company, which was then secretly supplying both the Army and CIA with LSD. Mr Albarelli came across CIA documents while investigating the suspicious suicide of Frank Olson, a biochemist working for the SOD who fell from a 13th floor window two years after the Cursed Bread incident. One note transcribes a conversation between a CIA agent and a Sandoz official who mentions the "secret of Pont-Saint-Esprit" and explains that it was not "at all" caused by mould but by diethylamide, the D in LSD. While compiling his book, A Terrible Mistake: The Murder of Frank Olson and the CIA's Secret Cold War Experiments, Mr Albarelli spoke to former colleagues of Mr Olson, two of whom told him that the Pont-Saint-Esprit incident was part of a mind control experiment run by the CIA and US army. After the Korean War the Americans launched a vast research programme into the mental manipulation of prisoners and enemy troops. Scientists at Fort Detrick told him that agents had sprayed LSD into the air and also contaminated "local foot products". Mr Albarelli said the real "smoking gun" was a White House document sent to members of the Rockefeller Commission formed in 1975 to investigate CIA abuses. It contained the names of a number of French nationals who had been secretly employed by the CIA and made direct reference to the "Pont St. Esprit incident." In its quest to research LSD as an offensive weapon, Mr Albarelli claims, the US army also drugged over 5,700 unwitting American servicemen between 1953 and 1965. None of his sources would indicate whether the French secret services were aware of the alleged operation. According to US news reports, French intelligence chiefs have demanded the CIA explain itself following the book's revelations. French intelligence officially denies this. Locals in Pont-Saint-Esprit still want to know why they were hit by such apocalyptic scenes. "At the time people brought up the theory of an experiment aimed at controlling a popular revolt," said Charles Granjoh, 71. "I almost kicked the bucket," he told the weekly French magazine Les Inrockuptibles. "I'd like to know why." (my view)-Do you still trust your governments?......i for one...NEVER HAVE AND NEVER WILL

Teenager remanded over harassment(Continued from previous post)

David Askew, 64, collapsed and died in the garden of his home
A teenager charged with harassing David Askew, who died following a confrontation outside his home, was remanded in custody when he appeared in court. Kial Cottingham, 18, appeared for a brief hearing at Tameside Magistrates' Court and spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth. Cottingham, of Sylvester Way, Hattersley was remanded for three days so police could talk to him about other offences. Mr Askew, 64, who had learning difficulties, collapsed and died outside his end-terrace property in Melandra Crescent, Hattersley, on Wednesday evening. Neighbours and police said he had been targeted by yobs for years. A post-mortem examination yesterday proved inconclusive. Mary Crompton, chairman of the bench in court, sent Cottingham back to police custody until Wednesday after hearing police wanted to talk to him about other alleged offences. It is alleged Cottingham harassed Mr Askew in a series of incidents between January 25 and the night he died. No date was given for the next court hearing.(my view)-You know what...the pigs will let this fucker go,theres no justice....never was since the 1800s

Britons 'pay £9bn unnecessary tax'

Britons are set to pay £9 billion in unnecessary tax during 2010 as the majority of people fail to take simple steps to reduce their tax burden, research showed. The biggest area on which people will overpay tax is through failing to claim tax credits, with consumers wasting £3.94 billion in this way, according to professional advice website Unbiased.co.uk. At the same time, £1.97 billion will be paid in inheritance tax which could have been avoided through better planning, while a further £742 million will go through people failing to take advantage of the tax breaks available by saving money into a pension rather than a less tax-efficient vehicle. People are expected to waste £516 million in capital gains tax that could have been avoided through better planning, while £328 million will be wasted through people failing to make use of their personal allowances. A further £442 million will be wasted by people who fill in self-assessment tax returns, through errors on their form and fines for getting it in late. Britons will also pay around £36 million more in tax on interest earned on their savings than they need to during 2010 because they have failed to make use of their annual tax-free ISA allowance. Overall, the group estimates that the average person will pay £186 more tax than they need to, although the figure varies according to people's lifestage and financial circumstances. But despite the fact that 86% of people are doing nothing to reduce their tax burden, the group said the amount of money being wasted through paying unnecessary tax had fallen by 9% from £10 billion in 2009. Karen Barrett, chief executive of Unbiased.co.uk, said: "Whilst it is encouraging to see our annual tax wastage is set to go down by 9% this year, £9 billion is still a colossal amount to be lost through error and avoidable circumstances. "Furthermore, this decrease in tax wastage could also be down to the shrunken economy - with simply less disposable income for the tax man to get his hands on."(my view)-1 we shouldn't EVER be taxed to live.......EVER,the government destroyed our homes(caves, forests ect)or made off limits......the government OWES us,and 2 this is a con to get more money from us slaves

Drivers ordered to stop criminal

Police ordered ordinary drivers in Moscow to use their cars as a roadblock to stop a fleeing armed criminal. The cars were parked across the road, with the motorists still inside, but the suspect still managed to smash his way through. The tactics have been condemned by rights activists at a time when police are rapidly getting a reputation as a threat rather than protection despite President Dmitry Medvedev's reforms.(my view)-Ordered lol FUCK YOU PIGS...why should we help the filth?........all they do is poke their snouts in to OUR business and course trouble......and on MANY occasion's....EVEN in my posts.........they have beaten, raped, falsely arrested and planted things on Victim's and even killing innocents in cold blood...SO TELL ME WHY SHOULD WE HELP YOU SHIT FUCKERS?

Girl, 3, thought loaded gun was Wii controller in fatal accident

A three-year-old girl accidentally shot and killed herself after mistaking a handgun for a Nintendo Wii video game controller. Cheyenne Alexis McKeehan shot herself in the chest with a .380 calibre pistol after finding her stepfather's gun lying on a table in the living room of the family home in Norene, Tennessee. Police believe she mixed up the semi-automatic with a gun controller for the Nintendo Wii, which looks similar and which she had learned how to use from playing on the games system. Douglas Cronberger, 32, the gun's owner, said he had forgotten he had left the gun out after he took it from its cabinet when he went to investigate a suspected prowler on Sunday evening. He had already gone to bed, but Tina Ann Cronberger, the child's mother, was sitting only a few feet away using a computer when the accident happened, while her three-month-old brother was playing nearby. Prosecutors have made no decision on whether any charges will be filed, but Terry Ashe, the sheriff of Wilson County, described the case as a "terrible tragedy investigation". Displaying the gun alongside the Wii controller, he said: "You can see by the comparison of the toy weapon and the real weapon that there's little chance a three-year-old would differentiate between the two. "'If you have a live handgun with a toy that looks the same - for parents some bells and whistles need to go off." (my view)-Well....there's rednecks for yea!does he care he killed his kid?

Police 'got teenager drunk' for confession

An investigation is under way after it was alleged police officers got a vulnerable teenage prisoner drunk on cider to make him confess to 11 crimes he did not commit. The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is looking into claims that two detectives from South Wales Police took a 17-year-old boy out of prison on two "drive arounds" of burglary scenes in Cardiff in an unmarked police car in an attempt to falsify their detection rates by having him ask to have the offences taken into consideration. The teenager's solicitor, Nadeem Majid, said that during one of the trips last month the officers bought the boy cigarettes and two two-litre bottles of Strongbow cider. The detectives are also alleged to have promised the boy, who has been remanded for psychiatric reports pending sentencing for two acts of theft, that he could have a takeaway and see his mother.
The IPCC confirmed that it was investigating five complaints against South Wales Police.
Having "offences taken into consideration" is common practice in the UK and means a criminal can plead guilty to one crime and also admit to others in court without having their sentence affected.

Calls for Bulger killer details

The Government has faced growing demands to release more information about Jon Venables's return to prison - led by victims' rights champion Helen Newlove. Mrs Newlove, whose husband Garry was kicked to death by a gang of yobs outside their home in Warrington in 2007, said it was cruel not to tell James Bulger's parents the full details. She urged the Prime Minister to think again after he and Justice Secretary Jack Straw declared the new allegations faced by the little boy's murderer must remain secret. Mrs Newlove said: "It is another case of the victims not coming into it and the criminals being protected.
"James's poor mother and father have to relive what's happened every day.
"What Jack Straw has said is ludicrous. Venables has breached his parole and should be staying in jail. "Venables and Thompson have been given everything on a plate and now we're not even allowed to know the circumstances surrounding this - it is a disgrace. Venables, 27, was taken back to prison more than a week ago after reportedly fighting with a work colleague and developing a drug problem. In 1993 he and Robert Thompson, both just 10 at the time, led two-year-old James from a Liverpool shopping centre on a two-mile walk to his death. They battered the little boy and left his body on a railway track for a train to cut it in two.(my view)-Justice is NOT SERVED ie:the killers are still alive, the government do NOT know anything about justice, its money all the time,as long as the killers are alive the MORE money the government STEALS from the public,FACT....THEIR ALL SICK FUCKS!

Officer admits sex act with victim

A police officer has walked free from court after he admitted engaging in sexual activity with a victim of domestic violence he was sent to help. Pc James Formby, 31, was given a 20-week sentence, suspended for two years, after he admitted misconduct in a public office. Judge Nicholas Loraine-Smith told Formby the incident in Bromley, south east London, in the early hours of September 19 last year "inevitably means the end of your police career". The judge told Southwark Crown Court in London the 33-year-old woman, who had been drinking and had taken the legal drug BZP, was clearly vulnerable. "Your duty as a police officer was to treat her professionally," he told Formby, an officer with the Metropolitan Police. "Instead you both began flirting. There were at least four separate occasions when you should have stopped the situation developing any further." Michael Mulkerrins, prosecuting, told the court Formby was one of at least four officers who attended the victim's house following a report of domestic abuse. While other officers took the woman's boyfriend away, Formby remained in the house with the woman to take her statement. But the pair began flirting and the woman sat close to the officer in her living room, resting her head on his knee. He told her she looked "sexy" in tight grey leggings and commented how she would look nice in high heels. Her boyfriend's collection of various uniforms used in his job as a male stripper were on the floor in the living room, which "heightened the sexual tension between them", said Mr Mulkerrins. But Formby was caught when the woman rang police a few hours later to ask about her boyfriend's arrest and mentioned the sex act to police. The link between the two was confirmed when Formby sent her a text saying: "That was nice. Shall we do that again?" In mitigation, Richard Atchley said Formby "realises he's been very foolish and he could have, and should have, left the house".(my view)-Well if they both flirted with each other and she was drunk...........apart from him being a policeman(which he should have said NO).........i see no problem........they both flirted and wanted sex......the woman should be arrested for illegal drugs and false allegations and the pig should be fired for"having sex with an abused victem"and"sex while being on duty"

MoD to destroy future UFO reports

The Ministry of Defence will destroy all future UFO reports it receives so it does not have to make them public, a previously secret memo reveals. Britain's official UFO investigation unit and hotline were closed down at the start of December. Since then reports of strange sights in the skies sent to the MoD have been kept for 30 days before being thrown out, the newly released policy document shows. This stance was adopted so defence officials would not have to publish the information in response to freedom of information (FoI) requests or pass it to the National Archives. The memo, dated November 11, 2009, sets out the MoD's reasons for shutting its UFO unit and ceasing to invite the public to send in details of sightings. It notes that the number of reports the department received soared last year, taking up extra resources and diverting staff from "more valuable" defence-related activities. The MoD recorded 634 UFO sightings in 2009, the second highest annual total after 1978, when there were 750, according to UFO expert Dr David Clarke.
This compares with an average of about 150 reports a year over the past decade.
The memo states: "The dedicated UFO hotline answer phone service and e-mail address serve no defence purpose, and merely encourage the generation of correspondence of no defence value. "Accordingly these facilities should be withdrawn as soon as possible."
