French bread spiked with LSD in CIA experiment

A 50-year mystery over the 'cursed bread' of Pont-Saint-Esprit, which left residents suffering hallucinations, has been solved after a writer discovered the US had spiked the bread with LSD as part of an experiment. An American investigative journalist has uncovered evidence suggesting the CIA peppered local food with the hallucinogenic drug LSD. In 1951, a quiet, picturesque village in southern France was suddenly and mysteriously struck down with mass insanity and hallucinations. At least five people died, dozens were interned in asylums and hundreds afflicted. For decades it was assumed that the local bread had been unwittingly poisoned with a psychedelic mould. Now, however, an American investigative journalist has uncovered evidence suggesting the CIA peppered local food with the hallucinogenic drug LSD as part of a mind control experiment at the height of the Cold War. The mystery of Le Pain Maudit (Cursed Bread) still haunts the inhabitants of Pont-Saint-Esprit, in the Gard, southeast France. On August 16, 1951, the inhabitants were suddenly racked with frightful hallucinations of terrifying beasts and fire. One man tried to drown himself, screaming that his belly was being eaten by snakes. An 11-year-old tried to strangle his grandmother. Another man shouted: "I am a plane", before jumping out of a second-floor window, breaking his legs. He then got up and carried on for 50 yards. Another saw his heart escaping through his feet and begged a doctor to put it back. Many were taken to the local asylum in strait jackets. Time magazine wrote at the time: "Among the stricken, delirium rose: patients thrashed wildly on their beds, screaming that red flowers were blossoming from their bodies, that their heads had turned to molten lead." Eventually, it was determined that the best-known local baker had unwittingly contaminated his flour with ergot, a hallucinogenic mould that infects rye grain. Another theory was the bread had been poisoned with organic mercury. However, H P Albarelli Jr., an investigative journalist, claims the outbreak resulted from a covert experiment directed by the CIA and the US Army's top-secret Special Operations Division (SOD) at Fort Detrick, Maryland. The scientists who produced both alternative explanations, he writes, worked for the Swiss-based Sandoz Pharmaceutical Company, which was then secretly supplying both the Army and CIA with LSD. Mr Albarelli came across CIA documents while investigating the suspicious suicide of Frank Olson, a biochemist working for the SOD who fell from a 13th floor window two years after the Cursed Bread incident. One note transcribes a conversation between a CIA agent and a Sandoz official who mentions the "secret of Pont-Saint-Esprit" and explains that it was not "at all" caused by mould but by diethylamide, the D in LSD. While compiling his book, A Terrible Mistake: The Murder of Frank Olson and the CIA's Secret Cold War Experiments, Mr Albarelli spoke to former colleagues of Mr Olson, two of whom told him that the Pont-Saint-Esprit incident was part of a mind control experiment run by the CIA and US army. After the Korean War the Americans launched a vast research programme into the mental manipulation of prisoners and enemy troops. Scientists at Fort Detrick told him that agents had sprayed LSD into the air and also contaminated "local foot products". Mr Albarelli said the real "smoking gun" was a White House document sent to members of the Rockefeller Commission formed in 1975 to investigate CIA abuses. It contained the names of a number of French nationals who had been secretly employed by the CIA and made direct reference to the "Pont St. Esprit incident." In its quest to research LSD as an offensive weapon, Mr Albarelli claims, the US army also drugged over 5,700 unwitting American servicemen between 1953 and 1965. None of his sources would indicate whether the French secret services were aware of the alleged operation. According to US news reports, French intelligence chiefs have demanded the CIA explain itself following the book's revelations. French intelligence officially denies this. Locals in Pont-Saint-Esprit still want to know why they were hit by such apocalyptic scenes. "At the time people brought up the theory of an experiment aimed at controlling a popular revolt," said Charles Granjoh, 71. "I almost kicked the bucket," he told the weekly French magazine Les Inrockuptibles. "I'd like to know why." (my view)-Do you still trust your governments?......i for one...NEVER HAVE AND NEVER WILL

Teenager remanded over harassment(Continued from previous post)

David Askew, 64, collapsed and died in the garden of his home
A teenager charged with harassing David Askew, who died following a confrontation outside his home, was remanded in custody when he appeared in court. Kial Cottingham, 18, appeared for a brief hearing at Tameside Magistrates' Court and spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth. Cottingham, of Sylvester Way, Hattersley was remanded for three days so police could talk to him about other offences. Mr Askew, 64, who had learning difficulties, collapsed and died outside his end-terrace property in Melandra Crescent, Hattersley, on Wednesday evening. Neighbours and police said he had been targeted by yobs for years. A post-mortem examination yesterday proved inconclusive. Mary Crompton, chairman of the bench in court, sent Cottingham back to police custody until Wednesday after hearing police wanted to talk to him about other alleged offences. It is alleged Cottingham harassed Mr Askew in a series of incidents between January 25 and the night he died. No date was given for the next court hearing.(my view)-You know what...the pigs will let this fucker go,theres no justice....never was since the 1800s

Britons 'pay £9bn unnecessary tax'

Britons are set to pay £9 billion in unnecessary tax during 2010 as the majority of people fail to take simple steps to reduce their tax burden, research showed. The biggest area on which people will overpay tax is through failing to claim tax credits, with consumers wasting £3.94 billion in this way, according to professional advice website Unbiased.co.uk. At the same time, £1.97 billion will be paid in inheritance tax which could have been avoided through better planning, while a further £742 million will go through people failing to take advantage of the tax breaks available by saving money into a pension rather than a less tax-efficient vehicle. People are expected to waste £516 million in capital gains tax that could have been avoided through better planning, while £328 million will be wasted through people failing to make use of their personal allowances. A further £442 million will be wasted by people who fill in self-assessment tax returns, through errors on their form and fines for getting it in late. Britons will also pay around £36 million more in tax on interest earned on their savings than they need to during 2010 because they have failed to make use of their annual tax-free ISA allowance. Overall, the group estimates that the average person will pay £186 more tax than they need to, although the figure varies according to people's lifestage and financial circumstances. But despite the fact that 86% of people are doing nothing to reduce their tax burden, the group said the amount of money being wasted through paying unnecessary tax had fallen by 9% from £10 billion in 2009. Karen Barrett, chief executive of Unbiased.co.uk, said: "Whilst it is encouraging to see our annual tax wastage is set to go down by 9% this year, £9 billion is still a colossal amount to be lost through error and avoidable circumstances. "Furthermore, this decrease in tax wastage could also be down to the shrunken economy - with simply less disposable income for the tax man to get his hands on."(my view)-1 we shouldn't EVER be taxed to live.......EVER,the government destroyed our homes(caves, forests ect)or made off limits......the government OWES us,and 2 this is a con to get more money from us slaves

Drivers ordered to stop criminal

Police ordered ordinary drivers in Moscow to use their cars as a roadblock to stop a fleeing armed criminal. The cars were parked across the road, with the motorists still inside, but the suspect still managed to smash his way through. The tactics have been condemned by rights activists at a time when police are rapidly getting a reputation as a threat rather than protection despite President Dmitry Medvedev's reforms.(my view)-Ordered lol FUCK YOU PIGS...why should we help the filth?........all they do is poke their snouts in to OUR business and course trouble......and on MANY occasion's....EVEN in my posts.........they have beaten, raped, falsely arrested and planted things on Victim's and even killing innocents in cold blood...SO TELL ME WHY SHOULD WE HELP YOU SHIT FUCKERS?
