Scanners 'could break porn law'

The Government is developing a code of practice for body scanner operators amid concerns the devices could threaten child protection laws. The Government is developing a code of practice for body scanner operators amid concerns the devices could threaten child protection laws. Campaigners have claimed the images taken by the controversial machines could breach legislation making it illegal to create indecent images of children, as well as threatening the privacy of other passengers. The technology is expected to be introduced at Heathrow and other hubs within weeks after Prime Minister Gordon Brown said it was "essential" to tackle a new terrorist threat. Terri Dowty, of civil rights group Action On Rights For Children, told The Guardian the scanners could breach the Protection of Children Act 1978, under which it is illegal to create an indecent image or a "pseudo-image" of a child. She said: "They do not have the legal power to use full body scanners in this way." Ms Dowty added that there was an exemption in the 1978 law to cover the "prevention and detection of crime", but the purpose had to be more specific than the security measures being proposed by the Government. Simon Davies of human rights campaigner Privacy International also said he feared scans of celebrities or of people with unusual body profiles could prove an "irresistible pull" for some employees, leading to their potential publication on the internet. A Department for Transport spokesman said: "We understand the concerns expressed about privacy in relation to the deployment of body scanners. "It is vital staff are properly trained and we are developing a code of practice to ensure these concerns are properly taken into account. "Existing safeguards also mean those operating scanners are separated from the device, so unable to see the person to whom the image relates, and these anonymous images are deleted immediately."(my view)-It does for kids aswell..pm's do not care, the child claim and rightfully so"Pedo"fact.........i am totally against this excuse for safety, they just want something to wank to and want to spy on us.....PERVERTS

Jail threat to drink charge pilot

An American pilot could be facing up to two years in jail for preparing to fly a passenger plane out of Heathrow airport while over the alcohol limit. An American pilot could be facing up to two years in jail for preparing to fly a passenger plane out of Heathrow airport while over the alcohol limit. Captain Erwin Vermont Washington, 51, was reported to police by a concerned colleague who smelled alcohol on his breath before the flight to Chicago. There were 124 passengers and 11 crew members on board flight UA949, with departure of the United Airlines Boeing 767 "imminent", when officers arrived at Terminal One. Washington, of Lakewood, Colorado, was found to have more than double the amount of alcohol in his blood allowed for flying when he was tested. He pleaded guilty at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court, west London, to being a member of aviation staff performing an aviation function while exceeding the proscribed alcohol limit. Magistrates' chairman Geoff Edwards said their powers were insufficient to sentence Washington, who will instead be sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court, south west London, on February 5. Chris Humphreys, defending, said Washington was "remorseful for events". He said legislation regarding aviation staff over the legal limit for flying had only been used seven times since it was introduced in the Railway and Transport Act 2003. Referring to two similar cases which were heard at Isleworth Crown Court last year, he said another United Airlines pilot was given a suspended sentence in March after giving a reading of 60 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. In July, an American Airlines pilot who recorded a reading of 39 milligrams of alcohol was given a fine, he added. At crown court, Washington could be jailed for a maximum of two years and given a fine, or solely face a financial punishment.(my view)- Could be....could be...he should for putting all these lives at risk...he should NEVER fly again!

'Fatties' kicked off dating website

Piling on the pounds at Christmas may put a slight dampener on the New Year but the consequences were rather more grave for more than 5,000 people expelled from an online dating community. Piling on the pounds at Christmas may put a slight dampener on the New Year but the consequences were rather more grave for more than 5,000 people expelled from an online dating community. The so-called "festive fatties" were kicked off BeautifulPeople.com for losing their looks over the holiday season. The site, which has a strict ban on "ugly people", said it had thrown out more than 5,000 members from around the world who had put on weight.(my view)- Love is love,no matter how big or small you are,if a thin person loves a heavy set person....so what.....its called love you fuckers..you should be sued

Policeman faces 'church sex' claim

A German police officer has been suspended from duty accused of having sex during a church service. A German police officer has been suspended from duty accused of having sex during a church service. The 26-year-old faces possible disciplinary measures as well as a criminal complaint for allegedly disturbing religious activities. Police said that a visitor discovered the officer with a woman in the Catholic church in Rennertshofen, near the Bavarian city of Ingolstadt, during an early-morning service last week. The couple then fled, but a church employee recognised the officer.(my view)-But "God" tells us all to have as much sex as possible as it produces the next generation of humans, and what a nice place to prove that then in "HIS"house so he knows we're not lying
