Downing Street aide 'barged' by PM

A senior No 10 aide described in a tape-recorded interview how he was physically pushed aside by an angry Gordon Brown, it has been disclosed. Stewart Wood, an Oxford don and senior foreign policy adviser to the Prime Minister, said that he had been left feeling "pretty shocked" by what had happened. He said that No 10 staff used to apologise for the way Mr Brown behaved saying "Oh that's just Gordon". However, Mr Wood had increasingly come to see his conduct as an issue, saying "how you deal as an individual with human beings is actually a core part of the job". A version of the incident in which Mr Wood was brushed aside was recounted last week in a new book by the political journalist Andrew Rawnsley, The End of the Party. Mr Brown has strongly denied shoving or hitting people. However, Mr Wood gave his own account of what happened in a tape-recorded interview with the author Suzie Mackenzie, who is writing an authorised biography of Mr Brown, which has been obtained by The Mail on Sunday. "I was standing at the top of the stairs at No 10. There was a reception for EU ambassadors and I was waiting with a one-pager (one page-briefing note) to show him before he went in, to say these are the three people you need to speak to," he told her. "And... and he was in a really bad mood. He walked up the stairs. And I leant forward and he went 'Outta my way' and he did that (the paper said that he raised an arm in a strong, sweeping gesture imitating Mr Brown's action), 'outta my way'. And then just walked in and then did it, smile on his face." In a statement, Mr Wood said: "As I recall, he was in a hurry that day, and barged past me on his way in to the room, but he didn't shove me. It did annoy me at the time, but it was an isolated incident. And the many acts of generosity and kindness that he has shown me in my years working with him mean a lot to me."(my view)-Brown IS GUILTY....always has been always will continue to be.

Virgin Media promises to speed up to 100Mbps broadband

Virgin Media says it will start rolling out broadband with speeds of up to 100 megabits per second (Mbps) to homes by the end of this year. It says the high-speed service will provide "very close to advertised headline speeds". The company says this is due to its use of cable, rather than the more widespread ADSL technology used by competitors.
In some areas Virgin says it will offer even faster speeds of up to 200Mbps.
Virgin Media's chief executive, Neil Berkett, said: "There is nothing we can't do with our fibre-optic cable network, and the upcoming launch of our flagship 100Mbps service will give our customers the ultimate broadband experience." The extra-fast service, says Virgin Media, will let customers download a music album in as little as five seconds, as opposed to the 75 seconds the same download would take on a 24Mbps ADSL connection.
Catch-up
Currently, most internet services are provided at speeds from 10Mbps to 50Mbps, depending on the chosen package. A BT spokesman said: "Virgin are playing catch-up as customers are already using 100Mbps over BT's network. It is fair to say we are bigger than them and we are growing faster too." Virgin Media has has 4.1 million broadband customers and added 46,000 over the last quarter, while BT has just over five million subscribers - some 25% more - and is currently growing at around twice the rate of Virgin Media, adding 102,000 customers in the last quarter.
Revenues up
Virgin Media has not yet said where it will first offer the 100Mbps service, which is expected to be deployed across Virgin's entire cable network by the end of 2011.
It would also not say how much it would cost.
Its latest results, released on Thursday, showed revenue increased to £980m, a year-on-year jump of 3.3%. Its average revenue per cable customer rose 5.8%. In November 2008, Virgin Media said it planned to cut 2,200 jobs by 2012, about 15% of its workforce, as part of a group-wide overhaul. (my view)-YeahYeahYeah!...from day 1 they have broken all of their promises.....ie:my Internet bill has double and is planning on raising again(i had a letter a couple of weeks ago telling me so)when they promised to keep the price down as it was(£15 years ago when they started and took over NTL) Richard branson is a fucking lying sack of shit!

'Zombies' have free speech rights too, US court rules

They're said to utter little more than an occasional groan, but zombies -- the blood-drenched monsters of Hollywood "B" movies -- still have a right to free speech, a US court ruled this week. An appeals court in the northern US city of Minneapolis, Minnesota on Wednesday allowed a group of zombies -- or rather, several protesters costumed as such -- to press ahead with their lawsuit against police who arrested them for disorderly conduct. The appeals court overturned a lower court in finding that the group of seven "zombies" had been wrongfully detained during a 2006 shopping mall protest against consumerism. The three-judge panel, by a two-to-one vote, ruled that Minneapolis police lacked probable cause to arrest the demonstrators for disorderly conduct. At the time of the protest, the plaintiffs were wearing makeup that gave them a "living dead" look: white face powder, fake blood and black circles around their eyes. They lurched stiff-legged through the halls of the mall urging shoppers to "get your brains here" and "brain cleanup in aisle five." In various bags, the protesters carried audio equipment including loudspeakers and wireless phone handsets, which police had described as "simulated weapons of mass destruction." The judicial panel upheld the lower court in dismissing the plaintiffs' claims of "false imprisonment" and "First Amendment retaliation" by Minneapolis police after being put in jail for two nights. But the appeals court sided with the protesters in ruling that police had no reason to imprison them simply for "dressing as zombies, and walking erratically in downtown Minneapolis," the court decision said. "An objectively reasonable person would not think probable cause exists under the Minnesota disorderly conduct statue to arrest a group of peaceful people for engaging in an artistic protest by playing music, broadcasting statements (and) dressing as zombies," the appeals court ruled. The decision allows the protesters to revive their lawsuit against Minneapolis and its police, which according to the Star Tribune newspaper seeks damages of at least 50,000 dollars per person arrested.

Britain's oldest stabbing victim: Son, 61, held after 100-year-old mother is knifed to death

A 100-YEAR-OLD woman found knifed to death in her home is thought to be Britain's oldest stabbing victim. Hannah Fitzgibbon, who received a telegram from the Queen in September, was discovered with a fatal knife wound to her neck at her house in Whitechapel, East London shortly before 10am today. Police have launched a murder inquiry and have arrested a 61-year-old man, believed to be her son Michael, who a neighbour said was a black cab driver. Neighbours said frail Hannah was partially deaf, short-sighted and walked with a zimmer frame. She lived with her son in a sheltered housing one-bedroom bungalow. Her son is believed to have slept in the lounge. A friend and neighbour called Julia, 74, said: 'She was a lovely lady and this is absolutely terrible I can't believe it. 'She turned 100 in September and she even got a telegram from the Queen. 'It took pride of place on her cabinet in the lounge and I remember her saying to me how thrilled she was to get something from the Queen. 'Michael her son is a nice person, who looked after his mum and did a lot for her. 'She was very deaf and a bit short-sighted. She needed a zimmer frame to walk, so she never left her home. 'I last saw her a couple of weeks ago and she seemed fine. They were a lovely family and she has lived there a long time, more than 10 years. 'Michael slept in the sitting room because there's only one bedroom.' Another male neighbour who did not want to be named said: 'She was an East End girl and she had lived here for years. Michael was a quiet bloke who kept himself to himself. He worked as a black cab driver.' Neighbour Susan Lowe, 54, said: 'I heard she was stabbed in the neck and that the police have taken him away. That poor old lady, I remember her 100th birthday, because everyone took flowers round to them and there were balloons with 100 on outside." A police spokesman said: 'A murder inquiry has been launched after the fatal stabbing of an elderly woman in E1. 'Police were called at 9.45 on Wednesday 24th February to an address in Hainton Close, E1 to reports of an elderly female stabbed. 'London ambulance service and police attend and discover a 100 year old female suffering from a single stab wound to the neck. 'She was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been informed. 'A 61 year old man has been arrested and is currently in custody.' A post mortem is due to take place.

Facebook named 'best invention'

Britons have named Facebook as the best invention of the past decade in a new survey. More than 1,000 people were asked to name their favourite three inventions of the Noughties, and almost three-quarters (73%) included the social networking website among their choices. The iPhone was the second most popular (62%), closely followed by networking website Twitter (58%). Some of those questioned (8%) said jeggings - a cross between jeans and leggings - were among their favourite inventions and a small number (2%) even voted for X Factor's twins John and Edward. The top 10 were Facebook (73%), iPhone (62%), Twitter (58%), the MP3 (51%), satellite navigation (46%), iPod (43%), YouTube (39%), high definition television (30%), GHD hair straighteners (23%) and 3D films (19%). Eve Atkins, founder of website Offers Supermarket, which commissioned the survey, said: "As the concept of our website is to offer consumers the top 10 best products available at any given time, which we research for the consumer, we thought it would be interesting to know what the buying public felt the top 10 products of the past decade were. "Some of the things in the list have changed the way we live; the Sat Nav, for example, has made travelling much easier." She added: "I am relieved that Jedward didn't make the list, I do feel that there have been much better inventions!"(my view)-Your kidding me...viruses,boots you out of msn and it slows your computer down so much that i fell asleep(when playing cafe world ect)facebook is NOT the best...far from it

Mother found not guilty of murder

A mother who starved her seven-year-old daughter to death has been cleared of murder after prosecutors accepted her defence of diminished responsibility. Angela Gordon, who admitted the manslaughter of Khyra Ishaq two weeks ago, was formally found not guilty of murder by jurors at Birmingham Crown Court on the orders of trial judge Mr Justice Roderick Evans. The decision by the Crown to accept Gordon's plea to the lesser charge came after she admitted five counts of child cruelty and psychiatrists agreed that she was suffering from severe depression when Khyra died in May 2008. Her plea was accepted in the sixth week of a retrial after several days of psychiatric assessment and legal argument. Gordon, 35, and Khyra's stepfather, 30-year-old Junaid Abuhamza, who also pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility, will now be sentenced on Friday next week. Explaining the decision not to pursue the murder charge against Gordon, prosecutor Timothy Raggatt QC said three psychiatrists had agreed that she was suffering from severe depression in the month before Khyra died at her home in Leyton Road, Handsworth, Birmingham. Mr Raggatt added: "For that reason we cannot resist the defence of diminished responsibility, now raised for the first time."It is extraordinary that it emerges so late (in the trial) but the sole reason for that is the denial... that Angela Gordon has put up around herself for all these months.".(my view)- Did they fly OJ's lawyer in for this!-SHE KILLED HER CHILD,SEND HER TO PRISON FOR LIFE(HER WHOLE LIFE)AND STARVE HER UNTIL DEATH

Seaworld worker killed by whale-YES! There IS Justice

An employee at SeaWorld Orlando has died after being attacked by a killer whale. Orange County Fire Rescue spokesman John Mulhall says paramedics were called to the Shamu Stadium at the theme park where they found a worker who could not be revived. Park visitor Victoria Biniak told WKMG-TV that the trainer had just finished explaining to the audience the show they were about to see. Biniak said the whale suddenly came up from the water, grabbed the trainer around the waist and "thrashed her all around" to the point the trainer's shoe fell off. Visitors were evacuated from the park, which was then closed. SeaWorld Orlando president Dan Brown said officials were investigating but it appeared to be an accident. He said SeaWorld had never experienced an incident like this.(my view)-YES! at last :) they should NOT(if they do)put the whale down as no animal wants or needs to be trained as entertainment for us to enjoy......i do NOT like these places or the circus

Atom smasher ramped up in quest for secrets of universe

Scientists are restarting the world's most powerful atom-smasher over coming days, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) said Sunday, as they prepare a new campaign to explore the secrets of the universe. The 3.9 billion euro (5.6 billion dollars) Large Hadron Collider (LHC) was shut down in December to ready it for collisions at unfathomed energy levels. It was run for a few weeks after being successfully revived from a 14 month breakdown. The particle collider -- inside a 27-kilometre (16.8-mile) tunnel straddling the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva -- is aimed at understanding the origins of the universe by recreating the conditions that followed the Big Bang. "We should be getting beams back in the LHC between Monday and Wednesday, with the first high energy collisions - so the real start of the research programme - coming two to four weeks later," CERN spokesman James Gillies told AFP.
"This is as scheduled when we switched off in December."
In the weeks before the technical shutdown, the collider achieved over a million particle collisions and accelerated proton beams to energy levels never reached before, according to CERN. Collisions reached a world record energy level of 2.36 teraelectronvolts (TeV), already allowing scientists to gather data. But CERN now wants to reach 7.0 TeV to try to recreate conditions close to the Big Bang, and run it at those levels for 18 to 24 months. Subsequently the scientists aim to reach the LHC's design energy of 14 TeV, but only following another long technical shutdown in the second half of 2011. Before the LHC experiment, no particle accelerator had exceeded 0.98 TeV. One TeV is the equivalent to the energy of motion achieved by a flying mosquito. The winter standby was used to bolster the accelerator for the higher electric currents demanded by such enormous energy levels, and upgrade its cryogenic cooling system. The LHC, a global effort, aims to resolve physics problems including "dark matter" and "dark energy", thought to account for 96 percent of the cosmos. The scientists' Holy Grail is to find a theorised component called the Higgs Boson, commonly called the "God Particle", which would explain how particles acquire mass. The experiment, the fruit of decades of experiments and research by physicists from around the world, has even attracted Hollywood in recent years with the fictional blockbuster "Angels and Demons".

Soccer star 'attacked at taxi rank'

Glasgow Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has received medical treatment following a disturbance at a taxi rank, it has been reported. The football club said only that the 28-year-old had been involved in an "incident" in Glasgow city centre on Saturday night. McGregor is said to have received a graze to his back after being attacked by up to three men in Bath Street. The Daily Record said the star had been attending a Celtic player's birthday party at a nightclub when he was hurt. He later underwent X-rays at a private clinic, according to the paper. Strathclyde Police said it had not received a report of the incident. A Rangers spokesman said: "We are aware of an incident involving Allan McGregor in the city centre and we have no further comment to make." The alleged assault followed Rangers' postponed Clydesdale Bank Premier League game at St Johnstone. McGregor has spent his entire professional career at Rangers, joining the club in the summer of 1998.(my view)-Sorry i don't post about football EVER....i HATE ANY AND ALL SPORT that doesn't involve disabled people, lets face it....disabled people are better at sport ect, their more carmer, none violent ect.anyway. i have one sentence for you all.....IT'S ONLY A FUCKING GAME ASSHOLES,sport DOES NOT benefit anyone.

Planespotters face India charges-WTF

Two planespotters are facing charges of illegally monitoring aircraft in India. Stephen Hampton and Steven Ayres aroused suspicion after asking staff at a Delhi hotel for a room overlooking a runway. They were carrying an air traffic control scanner, laptop, binoculars and cameras. Police arrested them on February 15 and questioned them over monitoring flights at Delhi International Airport. The pair were hoping to be released without charge but a Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) spokesman said they are due in court on Tuesday after being charged with misusing communications equipment under the Indian Telegraph Act. Railway worker Mr Hampton and Mr Ayres, both from Bristol, are being held in a New Delhi immigration centre.(my view)-WTF lol no wonder the country is so backwardly challenged..........WHAT WE CAN'T EVEN LOOK UP NOW! what the fuck their planespotters.....like trainspotters who have book and right the numbers down ect...what even the shit hobby entails.........they were doing NOTHING wrong......talk about slavery of rights.....WE ALL HAVE THE RIGHT TO LOOK UP! Pc 'let dogs die in baking car'-Concluded ?

A police dog handler left his two devoted German Shepherds to bake to death in the back of his car when he became distracted by paperwork, a court has heard. Pc Mark Johnson, 39, was suffering from depression and obsessive compulsive disorder leading to him forgetting his dogs, 18-month-old Jay-Jay and Jet, seven, on June 30 last year. Paul Taylor, prosecuting the case for the RSPCA, told the trial at Nottingham Magistrates' Court: "Jet and Jay-Jay suffered excruciating pain when their handler Pc Johnson left them in the boot of his private motorcar. "Pc Johnson's usual routine would have been to have transferred them to a police vehicle which had an air cooling unit but he did not transfer them and went about his business. He had some paperwork which needed to be done and by the time he realised what had happened, seven hours had passed and he went out and realised the dogs had died. "Pc Johnson had always been devoted to animals and his dogs in particular - who would have saved his life or got him out of tricky situations on operations in the past. I can find no evidence that he harboured any malice towards his dogs or that he would have wished to harm them but he made an error which nevertheless had fatal consequences for the animals. "His failure in this case is an aberration of his normal high standards. However his actions had catastrophic consequences for the two dogs in the car." The RSPCA alleges Johnson unnecessarily confined his dogs "in an environment that was detrimental to their wellbeing". He denies the charge. The deaths happened on one of the hottest days of the year, when temperatures reached 29.3C (84.7F). The dogs died from heatstroke during a heatwave. Pc Johnson, who has served with the force for nearly 18 years, told the court that he was left severely depressed and suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder after facing repeated investigations by the Independent Police Complaints Commission. He said: "Basically it was to do with the IPCC, that they were out to get me. Complaint after complaint came in and they were referred to the IPCC when they shouldn't have been. I always felt they were trying to prove a case against me."(my view)"He denied the charges"! what the fuck.....they were your dogs and it your car..the dogs didn't leave themselves in the car shit for brains!i BET they will NOT even fire this fucker.....cops are criminals who make us suffer and waste OUR money for their stupidity...PIGS SUCK!

Ryanair 'abandons passengers' on wrong Canary Island after landing in thunderstorm

Budget airline passengers have learned to put up with a lot over the years. But you wouldn't have thought it too much to ask for travellers to be dropped at the correct destination. More than 100 tourists on a Ryanair flight to Lanzarote were stunned when they were abandoned on the wrong Canary Island. The flight from Bournemouth was forced to divert due to stormy weather and land on the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura. The passengers say they were then left to make their own onward travel arrangements to catch ferries and boats to Lanzarote. To make matters worse, they say that when the weather cleared the plane flew from Fuerteventura to Lanzarote before taking on passengers and returning to the UK. One family was left £400 out of pocket after they had to pay for hotel accommodation on Wednesday night and a 30-minute ferry crossing the next day. Kay Wright, 40, was with her sons Jack, six, and George, five, stepdaughter Tabatha, 23, and her three-year-old daughter Kacey. She had to phone partner Tony Wainwright at home in Bournemouth for help. Mrs Wright said: 'The plane was packed full of families going away for half term. They made an announcement on the plane saying "you will have to find your own way overland" due to the weather. 'After we landed in Lanzarote, we didn't see a single Ryanair representative. There were no leaflets and no information about what we should do next.' Tony, a 48-year-old security consultant, said: 'I got a phone call at about 6pm to say they had landed but were on the wrong island.
'After disembarking they had gone into the terminal but there were no Ryanair representatives to tell them what to do next.
'It was left to me and a very helpful Spanish lady to sort out a taxi, arrange alternative accommodation for the night and book ferry crossings to Lanzarote in the morning.
'I don't blame Ryanair for the bad weather but to abandon a family, on the wrong island, is unforgivable.
'It has cost us another £400. 'I know Ryanair is a budget airline but surely they have some duty of care to their passengers.'
The family had flown from Bournemouth Airport to Lanzarote on Wednesday and were left stranded along with dozens of other passengers. The weary family finally arrived at Playa Blanca yesterday following an eight mile ferry trip in choppy seas to Lanzarote. Tony said: 'There has been no contact from Ryanair whatsoever. 'No information was posted on their website to say the flight had been diverted. 'When I rang I was told to write and I would receive a reply within 14 days. 'The flights were cheap, they cost about £250, but there's no way we would use Ryanair again.'
A Ryanair spokesman said: 'Ryanair flight FR 4755, Bristol to Lanzarote, diverted to Fuerteventura due to bad weather in Lanzarote. 'Unfortunately ferries were also affected by these high winds so passengers were provided with EU261 information which outlines their entitlement to provide receipted hotel expenses to Ryanair, for refund. 'Ryanair arranged that the ferry company would carry affected Ryanair passengers to Lanzarote free of charge when ferries recommenced the following morning. 'Ryanair apologises to passengers for any inconvenience caused by this weather related diversion but can never put passenger convenience before passenger safety.'
The guidelines state that if flight disruption is outside the control of the airline, no monetary compensation is due. (my view)-This is cold hearted of them, after the weather had carmed they could say"everyone back on board"and take them to their RIGHT destination buy NO,they do not give a shit about the people!-The airline should be shut down!!

PM staff 'called bullying helpline'

The head of an anti-bullying charity has hit out at Gordon Brown after revealing several Downing Street staff have called its helpline. Christine Pratt said she had "seen red" after ministers rallied round to deny claims in a new book that the Prime Minister had been warned over his treatment of staff. Lord Mandelson said the Prime Minister was emotional, demanding and impatient but not a bully after a new book detailed a string of alleged outbursts. But Mrs Pratt, who founded the National Bullying Helpline after being a workplace victim herself, accused them of failing staff by "going into denial". "I have personally taken a call from staff in the Prime Minister's office, staff who believe they are working in a bullying culture and that it has caused them some stress. We would have hoped Gordon Brown would lead by example. If an employer receives complaints they should investigate," she said. "I am not saying Gordon Brown is a bully, I am not a judge. But I am appalled at the outright denial that is going on without due process being followed." Mrs Pratt said there had been "three or four" contacts with the helpline from Downing Street staff in recent years - although others were received before Mr Brown took charge. The book, by Observer political commentator Andrew Rawnsley, details a string of alleged incidents of verbal and physical outbursts by Mr Brown. Mrs Pratt said: "I saw the Lord Mandelson statement that had a categorical denial that bullying was going on in Gordon Brown's office. I saw red." She said she could not give details of the allegations - such as whether Mr Brown himself was being accused of being part of the problem.(He does yell and bully the staff....they have said before that he does.......and the look on that"one eyed scottish asshole"says it all

Over-the-limit pilot avoids jail-Story concluded

An American pilot who turned up at Heathrow Airport to fly a transatlantic jet while over the alcohol limit has avoided a jail sentence. Captain Erwin Vermont Washington, 51, was given a ten-month suspended sentence at London's Isleworth Crown Court. Washington was charged after a concerned colleague who smelled alcohol on his breath reported him to police. There were 124 passengers and 11 crew members on board flight UA949 to Chicago and the departure of the United Airlines Boeing 767 was "imminent" when officers arrived at Terminal One.
Sentencing him Judge Sam Katkhuda said his behaviour was "simply not acceptable".
Washington of Lakewood, Colorado, was found to have more than double the amount of alcohol in his blood for flying when he was tested on November 9 last year. The court was told the highly experienced pilot, a married father of three, was over the legal alcohol limit as a result of a "miscalculation". But Judge Katkhuda told him: "This is simply not acceptable, it was entirely voluntary on your part that you consumed alcoholic drink." He added: "As pilot, you know well that travelling on air craft not only places special duty on passengers to behave in a reasonable manner, but also places special responsibility on pilots to comply with their duty. "When you arrived to take control of this flight for Atlantic Airlines to Chicago the air crew noticed alcohol on your breath and were disturbed enough to report the matter to airport authorities."(my view)-See.....there is NO justice!

Jesus was gay, claims Sir Elton

Sir Elton John is facing a backlash from conservative Christian groups after stating in an interview that Jesus was a gay man. The 62-year-old musician also opened up to US magazine Parade about the "life-threatening downside" of fame and his relationship with partner David Furnish. But it's the Rocket Man's views on Jesus's sexuality which have sparked headlines across the world. In the interview, to be published in America on Saturday, Sir Elton said: "I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems. "On the cross, he forgave the people who crucified him. Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving. I don't know what makes people so cruel. Try being a gay woman in the Middle East - you're as good as dead." Stephen Green, director of Christian Voice, described the gay claim as "rubbish". He said: "The Bible says Jesus was without sin and that rules out homosexuality. This is a desperate cry for attention." Mike Judge, of the Christian Institute, dismissed the star's views, saying: "Had a senior political figure made these comments, I would have had an opinion. But this is Elton John and I don't think anybody takes him seriously." Gay Christian groups acknowledged Sir Elton, who is often pictured wearing a crucifix, had reopened debate on homosexuality and the church. Jeremy Marks, founder and director of Courage, a Christian organisation for Gays and Lesbians, said: "None of us know and will never know what Jesus's sexuality was. Certainly people's perceptions of relationships between men, and men and women, were different then and would be unrecognisable today. I think he is explaining how he sees Jesus in his life and wants to encourage other people to see that too."(my view)-Of course the queen of the fags would say that.....its this sausage lover that is seeking attention......take an overdose will yea!

Stop sexualising children, says David Cameron

Conservative leader David Cameron has called for an end to the "inappropriate sexualisation" of children. Parents should be able to complain via a specially set-up website about offensive marketing tactics used by companies, he said. Mr Cameron also told the BBC that firms which flout the rules should not be allowed to bid for government contracts for three years. Such moves were needed to stop children being "bombarded", he added. In 2008, Woolworths withdrew a girls' bedroom furniture range called Lolita - the same name as the 1955 Vladimir Nabokov novel about a man's sexual obsession with his 12-year-old stepdaughter.
Magazines
Supermarkets have been criticised for selling padded bras and pole-dancing kits aimed at children. And some teachers have called for girls' magazines to be given age ratings, arguing they "glamorise" sexual promiscuity. Mr Cameron said: "It's time for action. As parents we all worry about our children growing up too fast and missing out on their childhood." He added: "We cannot shield kids from the modern world and no-one would try, but we can try to stop them having inappropriate things put in front of them from an early age." Mr Cameron told BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour: "A lot of parents feel they are engaged in a kind of struggle to try to bring up our kids. "We want to let them see the world as it is but not be bombarded by the wrong sort of images from an early age. "We've all read stories about padded bras and Lolita beds. There are some worries."
'Tough new rules'
He said the Advertising Standards Agency should get greater powers to deal with inappropriate marketing aimed at children - something the government says it is also working towards. Children's Secretary Ed Balls said he had raised the issue in the Children's Plan two years ago, adding it was "good to have David Cameron's support because this is something which concerns all parents and is not an issue for party politics".(my view)-I totally agree with David here-in the many years past i have see young girls wearing these words and their clothing...in including boys to:"Cum Princess,Pussy Lover,King Of The Whores,Sex Kitten.Sex Kitty,The Camel Toe Licker,Player,I Love Rape,Daddy's Little Whore,Hoes Before Bro's,My 3 Holes For Sale For Money...ect..the rest are sickening....this must stop!Protecting our kids from these vile companies IS A MUCH.......did you know that little boys and girls sexually touch each other because of what is written on their clothes!

Dog tongue swells to 'monster' size

A pet dog nearly died after suffering a freak accident that caused her tongue to swell to four times its normal size,Penny before surgery to remove a pig's aorta that had wrapped itself around her tongue Penny almost suffocated when her tongue ballooned as she tucked into her favourite treat of pig's heart. Membrane from the pig's aorta wound itself around the base of her tongue, cutting off the blood supply which caused it to swell to "monster" proportions. The lack of blood also meant that parts of the tongue died off and could have led to a fatal infection. Her situation worsened when she desperately tried to paw her tongue free, causing blood to gush from her mouth. Her horrified owner, Linda Donnelly, from Paisley, said her pet's tongue was left looking like an enormous piece of steak hanging from her mouth. She rushed her to the PDSA's PedAid Hospital in Glasgow for life-saving treatment. Initially vets thought she was suffering from a tumour which had suddenly increased in size and warned Ms Donnelly that her pet was unlikely to pull through. Vet Dermot Mullen said the shock of the ordeal alone could have killed the 18-year-old pet. But while Penny was under anaesthetic, Mr Mullen spotted the aorta and managed to cut it free. "I am just pleased I was able to save her. The prognosis was not at all good. "It was very hard to see down her throat because of the size of her inflated tongue but once I saw the fibrous ligature, the cause of Penny's problem was clear. Ms Donnelly said she was "absolutely devastated" when her dog started to choke. "It all happened so quickly," she said. "One minute Penny was okay, the next she was stood in front of me with what can only be described as a monster-sized tongue hanging from her mouth with blood pouring out everywhere. "I hadn't a clue what had caused the swelling at that point as she had eaten the pig's heart hours before. She has eaten these many times in the past without any problem. "When Dermot told us what had happened I felt awful. She has them as a treat now and again but I never for one moment thought anything like this could have happened. Pigs' hearts are now completely off the menu."

Women say some rape victims should take blame - survey

A majority of women believe some rape victims should take responsibility for what happened, a survey suggests. Almost three quarters of the women who believed this said if a victim got into bed with the assailant before an attack they should accept some responsibility. One-third blamed victims who had dressed provocatively or gone back to the attacker's house for a drink. The survey of more than 1,000 people in London marked the 10th anniversary of the Haven service for rape victims. More than half of those of both sexes questioned said there were some circumstances when a rape victim should accept responsibility for an attack.
Less forgiving
The study found that women were less forgiving of the victim than men. Of the women who believed some victims should take responsibility, 71% thought a person should accept responsibility when getting into bed with someone, compared with 57% of men. Elizabeth Harrison from Haven said there was never an excuse for forcing a woman to do something she did not want to. "Clearly, women are in a position where they need to take responsibility for themselves - but whatever you wear and whatever you do does not give somebody else the right to rape you.
Rape victims' views on blame
"It's important people take the time to actually look at what they are doing and make sure the person they are with is actually wanting to go ahead with what they are proposing." The survey also found more than one in 10 people were unsure whether they would report being raped to the police, and 2% said they would definitely not do so. The main reasons were being too embarrassed or ashamed (55%), wanting to forget it had happened (41%) and not wanting to go to court (38%). Meanwhile, the survey suggested that many people are relaxed about their safety. Almost half of people have walked home via side streets on their own. One in five has been so drunk they have lost their memory, while one in five has got into a taxi without checking whether it is licensed.
Hardening attitudes
When asked about their own experiences, more than a third of those polled said they had been in a situation where they could have been made to have sex against their will. Women are more likely to have been in this situation - 40% compared to 20%. And one in five adults had been in a situation where they were made to have sex when they did not want to. This had happened to more women (23%) than men (20%). The online survey, titled Wake Up To Rape, polled 1,061 people aged 18 to 50, comprising 712 women and 349 men. An Amnesty International report five years ago found that a significant minority of British people laid the blame for rape at victims themselves. BBC home affairs correspondent Danny Shaw says this latest study suggests attitudes may have hardened. And the findings may help explain why juries are reluctant to convict in some rape trials. Amnesty International's UK director Kate Allen said the new findings were "alarming but sadly not surprising". "It is depressing that, nearly half a decade later, people are still quick to blame the victim of rape rather than placing the responsibility where it actually belongs - squarely on the shoulders of the perpetrator," she said. "The government has announced that it will develop an 'integrated strategy' to tackle violence against women and these findings are another reminder of how urgent this is and how proper training, support and resourcing will be vital in making it a reality." The Home Office said it had introduced a number of measures to the service provided to rape victims, including new police and prosecutors' guidance, monitoring of services and funding for support for rape victims. A spokeswoman said: "The government is determined to ensure that every victim has immediate access to the services and support they need so that more victims have the confidence to come forward and report these crimes and we can bring the perpetrators to justice." (my view)-99% of woman(who are raped)do dress to provoke the mans sex drive, you may find this hard to believe girls..BUT man have a REALLY high sex drive more then you(woman) Yes! there is masturbation but that HAS to(by law)to do that at home....what are men suppose to do when you go around in short butt length skirts,no wearing knickers, boobs in LOW cut tops and MORE-what are men to do?its like dangling meat in front of a hungry dog.....the dogs going to snatch it from you and eat it......fuck!i have seen INNOCENT men go to prison over sluts who refuse to take responsibility for the way they act and dress,i have seen documentaries on TV about INNOCENT men who had their lives destroyed by women-no place will hire them, all past friends desert you, your parents think your a rapist, people whisper around you and behind your backs........all because of your lies made it to paper and the news, you women KNOW what you are doing from the get go,as a follow man.....women like this SICKEN ME.......and what gets to me worse is...the judge falls for your story because.you guessed it...your cunts who can act innocent and cry so the male judge takes pity on you thinking your tears are real.......dammmmmm i need to podcast this...i'm good at figuring you people out!

R.I.P

I DEDICATE THIS BANNER TO MY FRIENDS WHO HAVE PAST,R.I.P,I LOVE YOU GUYS

Meet HOPE

Meet HOPE a tiny Maltese puppy from the Southern Comfort Maltese Rescue in Chattanooga, TN that was born with no front legs. At first, Hope got around by hopping on her back legs - but a veterinarian warned rescue workers that Hope would eventually damage her bones and spine. David Turnbill, an orthotist (someone who designs prosthetics) developed a device which would help the puppy get around by using model airplane wheels in place of Hope's missing legs. The wheels are spring loaded and hook to a custom-fitted chest plate...which allows Hope to lie or sit down without removing the wheels. And since the prosthetic arms move independently of one another, Hope can pretty much run and move around like any other dog. (my view)-NOW this makes my well up inside from happiness,we ALL should love NOT hate...even with EACHOTHER

BARACK OBAMA'S director of speechwriting turns out to be-A MORON

BARACK OBAMA'S director of speechwriting is a 27-year-old guy named Jon Favreau(--not to be confused with JON FAVREAU who starred in "Swingers" with VINCE VAUGHN, and directed "Iron Man".) Anyway, it seems Jon was doing a little drinking at a recent party, and he was photographed groping a life-sized cardboard cutout of . . . HILLARY CLINTON. Of course, the picture surfaced on . . . that's right . . . Facebook. It was only up for about two hours before Jon took it down, and he hasn't commented on the situation. But Clinton's people don't seem too upset about it. In fact, considering Clinton's complaints about sexism during her Democratic primary battle against Obama, her office responded with a surprising level of humor. After learning about the photo, they released a statement saying, quote, "Senator Clinton is pleased to learn about Jon's obvious interest in the State Department, and is currently reviewing his application."

Meet Joey, the dog who is allergic to cats and can only eat potatoes and porridge

For most dogs the idea of chasing the neighbourhood cat followed by a relaxing hour or three chewing on a bone is heaven. But not for Joey, a five-year-old Alsatian-Collie who is allergic to almost everything - including cats. Joey's allergies are so bad he can't even go bounding around in a grassy field or enjoy a dip in a river. Dog's dinner: Joey survives on a diet of potatoes and porridge. He is allergic to virtually everything, including cats and bones And there's no Pedigree Chum for poor Joey either - he's allergic to meat. That means he has to survive on a diet of potatoes and porridge provided by his loving owners Lisa McCormack, 25, and Scott Muirhead, 36, from Hamilton, Lanarkshire. Mr Muirhead said: 'Joey was consistently breaking out in boils and sores and we were scratching our heads over why. 'He can't even chase a cat or he'll break out in a rash. We couldn't believe it. 'After a year of trips to the vets we finally got a special blood test performed to see what was going on. 'The results said it all and our local vets were baffled. They had never seen anything like it in a dog before. Lease of life: Joey is now taking a new type of antibiotic and specialised dog food 'There are two columns on the results sheet and you need a zero on both to show there is no allergy. 'Joey had this for practically nothing. Some of the only things he got zeros for food-wise was potatoes, barley and oats.' His owners now hope a new type of antibiotic and specialised dog food will give Joey a new lease of life. 'He's looking much better,' said Miss McCormack, a nursery worker. 'He's coming around all right now and his skin condition is improving. We hope it continues and he can live life like a normal dog.'

Paint pensioner 'refused bus ride'

A pensioner was left 10 miles from home after being refused a bus ride because he was carrying a can of paint, it was claimed. Brian Wakley said he was stopped from taking the 1B Bournemouth to Poole Transdev Yellow bus as the non-toxic green fence paint breached regulations. The retired officer worker was told to leave the bus by the driver because the £3.75 tin was a "banned substance", he said. Rather than pay more than £20 for a taxi after the episode on Thursday, Mr Wakley called a friend to take him home to Sandford, near Wareham.(my view)-We are banned for carrying some things because of these paki, muslim fuckers ect who are bombers and criminals, just ship these fuckers home to where they belong so we CAN live a peaceful existence,if they want to kill people...KILL YOURSELVES and leave us alone

Malawi villagers move for new Madonna school

Some 200 villagers in Malawi have ended their protests and agreed to leave their land to make way for a school being built by pop star Madonna. The villagers have finally accepted compensation of $105,000 (£67,000) after their protests had delayed the start of the building work. A local chief reportedly told the villagers to "accept reality" after the government ordered them to move. Madonna has adopted two children from Malawi, where she has an orphanage. Work is now expected to start soon on the Raising Malawi Girls Academy outside the capital, Lilongwe. The AFP news agency says it is expected to be finished in two years' time. As well as the compensation, the villagers have also been given new land elsewhere. (my view)-1,shes building nothing, shes just funding or taxing them and slapping her stage name on it....sad bitch and 2,Who the fuck does she think she is!shes hardly visited that place, she only visited to adopt and that was for MORE PR for her and to beef up her fuckingly fugly profile........i've had enough....this makes me sick to know shes only doing this for PR and money.o before you say it,yes she cut the ribbon but she DIDN'T plant a tree.she took one shovel of some dirt she dug out and tossed it aside while a villager dug out the rest, she place the tree in the centre of the hole and that same villager planet it..NOT HER....how fucking lazy is that of her,you could tell she never dug before as she just tapped the shovel with her foot expecting it to go into the soil itself so she pressed down harder and nearly fell lol......i have seen the video and was laughing and angry at the same time.aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa(that was me screaming at her while impaling her in her face over and over with the spine a ripped from her leathery look wrinkled back lol)

Warning over sexy instant message called 'Fembot'-FOR LONELY MEN ONLY/GAY WOMEN

Lonely internet users are being warned about Fembot, a piece of malicious software that poses as a flirtatious woman looking to chat on instant messaging services. Victims are persuaded to give out personal information that could be used for fraud or identity theft, according to security experts. Fembot was first spotted in 2007 but hasn't been seen much since then. However, there are signs she may be back on the scene in time for Valentine's Day. She may also be sporting a new, more sophisticated look, according to Richard Clooke from PC Tools. "These types of attacks have moved on significantly in this time," he said. "The intelligence has improved such that they can tailor their discussion based on the information they are getting and then change their questions or answers to reflect the responses." Researchers say Flirtbot-type software typically directs an instant messaging user to click through to a website which may request credit card details or force a virus on to their computer. "There is a certain part of the population who are willing to engage in these kinds of conversations," added Richard Clooke. In 2007, a Russian company called CyberLover.ru claimed it had developed software that could successfully pass itself off as a member of the opposite sex. There's no suggestion that CyberLover was involved in the criminal side of online virtual flirting. However, it is thought that similar technology is being used by the latest generation of Flirtbots.

Google ranked 'worst' on privacy

Google has the worst privacy policy of popular net firms, says a report. Rights group Privacy International rated the search giant as "hostile" to privacy in a report ranking web firms by how they handle personal data. The group said Google was leading a "race to the bottom" among net firms many of whom had policies that did little to substantially protect users. In response Google said the report was mistaken and that it worked hard to keep user data confidential.
Hostile approach
The report by the veteran cyber rights group is the result of six months' research which scrutinised 20 popular net firms to find out how they handle the personal information users gave up when they started using such services. None of the firms featured in the report got a "privacy friendly" rating. Yahoo and AOL were said to have "substantial threats" to privacy as were Facebook and Hi5 for the allegedly poor way they dealt with user data. Microsoft, one place higher in the rankings than these four firms, was described as having "serious lapses" in its privacy policy. Other net sites, such as BBC.com, eBay and Last.fm were described in the report as "generally privacy aware but in need of improvement". But Privacy International singled put Google at the bottom of its rankings for what the group called its "numerous deficiencies and hostilities" to privacy. "We are aware that the decision to place Google at the bottom of the ranking is likely to be controversial," the group said in the report. Privacy International placed Google at the bottom of its ranking because of the sheer amount of data it gathers about users and their activities; because its privacy policies are incomplete and for its poor record of responding to complaints. "While a number of companies share some of these negative elements, none comes close to achieving status as an endemic threat to privacy," read the report. Responding to the report Nicole Wong, general counsel for Google, said in a statement: "We are disappointed with Privacy International's report which is based on numerous inaccuracies and misunderstandings about our services." Ms Wong added: "We recognise that user trust is central to our business and Google aggressively protects our users' privacy." Privacy International said it planned to release a more detailed report in September produced after detailed consultation with the firms covered in the first draft. (my view)-Of course google is worse....you know why?....google is a FAT CAT company...if they were a small business they would be top ranked but since they FEED on us all to keep their shit going...........like ALL big FAT companies...they couldn't care less for the public.......we are just consumers and food to them NOT human being

Google calls for web privacy laws

Search site Google has called on governments and business to agree a basic set of global privacy rules. Without global standards the health of the internet was at risk, the firm's privacy chief Peter Fleischer told a UN agency conference in Strasbourg. He said that the rise of the net meant vast amounts of personal data was now regularly shipped around the globe. That information often passed through countries with insufficient or no data protection laws, he said. "Every time a person uses a credit card their information may cross six or seven national boundaries," Mr Fleischer said before the event.
Hostile past
Three quarters of countries have no privacy rules at all and among those that do, many were largely adopted before the rise of the internet, he said. Europe, for example, has strict privacy regulations, but these rules were set out in 1995, largely before the rise of the commercial internet, he said. In contrast, the United States has no country-wide privacy laws, instead leaving them to individual states or even industries to set up. "The minority of the world's countries that have privacy regimes follow divergent models," a copy of his speech said. "Citizens lose out because they are unsure about what rights they have given the patchwork of competing regimes." Google has previously come under repeated fire about its own privacy policies. In June, rights group Privacy International rated the search giant as "hostile" to privacy in a report ranking web firms by how they handle personal data. A month later, the firm said it would change its policies so that its cookies, tiny files stored on a computer when a user visits a website, would auto-delete two years after a user's last visit to its site. Previously they were set to delete in 2038. Speaking at the Strasbourg Unesco conference, Mr Fleischer called for countries to adopt principles agreed by some Asia-Pacific nations. The APEC guidelines have nine principles that aim to protect the individual and safeguard data collection. They have been accepted by countries ranging from Australia to Vietnam. "If privacy principles can be agreed in such divergent countries, then we think that is a model for the rest of the world," Mr Fleischer said before the speech.

Paying the price for a free web

We are increasingly giving away personal information on sites such as Facebook. As part of a major series on the BBC about the impact of the web, producer Jo Wade has been looking at the price we pay for free information. 'Numb Fingers.' 'Wind Beneath My Wings.' '60 Single Men.' 'Ceramic Ashtrays.' 'Depression and Medical Leave.' 'Dog that urinates on everything.' 'Foods to avoid when breast feeding.' 'Fear that spouse contemplating cheating.' 'How to kill oneself by natural gas.' These are a few of the eclectic and sometimes disturbing internet searches made by the users of AOL, who believed they were using their computers in private. The relationship with what we think is a free and largely private web; how we unreservedly put our innermost thoughts and queries into what feels like a very private space - sometimes thoughts we wouldn't dare share with anyone or even put down in a diary, comes at a price.
Turning detective
In May 2006, AOL released a file containing every search made by 658,000 of their users over the previous three months. It was part of a research project and each user was identified only by a numerical code to protect their identity. But one reporter at the New York Times was intrigued by the potential value of data like this to governments or corporations. Were these outwardly anonymous searches in fact so personal that they would reveal the identity of the searcher? David Gallagher turned detective to try and prove it. After a few hours' work and using nothing other than these search terms and the telephone directory, he had correctly managed to identify his target. It was a 62-year-old woman called Thelma Arnold from Atlanta, Georgia, who was understandably rather shocked and angry. This story illustrates how we have become unwittingly complicit in a deal that is reshaping our world. Twenty years after its creation, the web appears to offer us unprecedented free access to knowledge and entertainment. However this gift comes at a price and in the end someone has to pay. Think back to the search terms you've put into a search engine in the last week. It's likely you can't remember most of them. But as the AOL story shows us, it's these incidentals that, when pieced together, can give a surprisingly revealing picture of who we are. If that information goes public - whether through accident or ill intent - we suddenly feel very exposed and very vulnerable. How much would someone have to pay before you would let them read your diaries, find out what your religious beliefs, political leanings or sexual preferences were, or where your children go to school? What many of us are not aware of is that we are freely giving away exactly this kind of information to websites that we use every day. More importantly, we are doing this on a massive scale. In this digital era, where we spend an estimated £50bn a year (source: IMRG 2009) on online goods and services, we worry about data theft and online security. But there's an even bigger, more important issue and that's how we give away information about ourselves every time we log on and how it is being used by powerful companies now shaping the web. We need to ask ourselves whether we need to be concerned.
Trading information
Every day in Britain millions of searches are carried out on Google for free. Every month we spend millions of hours on Facebook for free and read millions of articles from free newspapers.
But now look at it the other way round.
Every day Google gathers millions of search terms that help them refine their search system and give them a direct marketing bonanza that they keep for months. Every week Facebook receives millions of highly personal status updates that are kept forever and are forming the basis of direct advertising revenue. Every month free newspapers plant and track a cookie tracking device on your computer that tells them what your range of interests are and allows them to shape their adverts and in the future, even content around you. So you're not just being watched, you're being traded. The currency has changed. The currency is now information - your information. Businesses can use that information to make big money. Daily we hand over the minutiae of our lives in return for a convenient and free web. It's been a slow, almost imperceptible shift in culture and in how we value privacy. Few of us are really aware of the implications of these changes and this programme explores whether it is a trade worth making.

Paranormal Activity sparks panic attacks in Italy

The film was shot in the director's home in San Diego in 2006 Parents and politicians in Italy are up in arms over US horror movie Paranormal Activity after several cinema-goers suffered from panic attacks. It opened in Italy at the weekend with no restrictions - despite being rated 15 in the UK and R-rated in the US. An emergency services spokesman told news agency Ansa the most serious case was a 14-year-old girl "brought to the hospital in a state of paralysis". The Italian parents' association wants an age limit of 18 to be bought in. The spokesman said emergency services had received dozens of calls especially in southern Naples "where several panic attacks lasting more than half an hour took place on Saturday". 'Terrible thing' Italian Defence Minister Ignazio La Russa said he was concerned about a trailer for the film shown on Italian TV. "For the past two weeks a trailer has been shown obsessively on TV and is terrifying thousands of children," he said. "It's a terrible thing. I took notice because my seven-year-old son told me, 'Daddy, I'm scared'." Culture Minister Sandro Bondi said the committee that decided on age restrictions had given the film the go ahead, but he was now considering possible measures to protect children. Director Oren Peli filmed the movie on a video camera in his own house for just $15,000 (£9,000). The fictional movie, shot like a homemade documentary, follows a young couple coping with supernatural phenomena in their home. The movie took $22m (£13.5m) in its first weekend on nationwide release in the US at the end of October. (my view)-Your fucking kidding me,THE FILM WAS TOTAL SHIT!and now they are doing PA2,the people saw the trailer on TV but went anyway...fucking morons....are Italian's REALLY that thick?its not the makers of the movie at fault for them being in hospital and shock ect.......it's the morons who watch these movies thinking they can take it......if your easily shocked..DON'T WATCH YOU IDIOTS.
THE FILM WAS TOTALLY SHIT,CRAP ACTORS,CRAP STORY LINE ECT-AND THE MAKERS TRIED TO CON THE PUBLIC BY SAYING"IT'S BASED ON A TRUE STORY" FUCKING MORONS

Tearful Brown tells of baby's death

Gordon Brown wept when he talked of the death of his daughter Jennifer during a TV interview, it has emerged. The Prime Minister's eyes filled with tears as he told Piers Morgan he knew that his newborn daughter was not going to survive. She died in 2002 aged 10 days after suffering a brain haemorrhage. The exchange took place in front of a live studio audience and is due to be broadcast on ITV next Sunday. Mr Brown also spoke of his three-year-old son Fraser's battle with cystic fibrosis. Other topics reportedly covered during the interview include an admission that he occasionally lost his temper, confirmation of "explosive" rows with former PM Tony Blair, and the fact that Mr Blair had secretly promised to hand over power to him - but that the timing lay with his predecessor. It has long been speculated that the pair struck a leadership deal at Granita restaurant in Islington following the death of former leader John Smith..(my view)-Gordon...you should be ashamed of yourself, yes your kid died in 2002 and is very sad,but using her-your child's death to gain the public's sympathy because your being booted out of the prime minister's seat and but you want to keep your place so you went on T.V and used your daugther's death in hopes that we will fall for your crap........YOUR A SHIT LEADER......YOUR THE BIGGEST COSTLY MISTAKE WE(NOT ME)EVER MADE
