Jedward team up with Vanilla Ice

Twins John and Edward, X Factor finalists in 2009, will record with rapper Vanilla Ice. X Factor finalists John And Edward Grimes became a national joke during last year's series. But they're having the last laugh. Jedward, as they're popularly known, are now plotting the next stage of their career. They're said to be on the verge of teaming up with rapper Vanilla Ice for their debut single. In week six of X Factor 2009, Jedward 'sang' and rapped a version of Under Pressure mixed with Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby, a song that samples the Queen song's bassline. "There's no point me getting angry or serious about this, if the public like you, they like you," Simon Cowell said at the time. Commenting on the collaboration, manager and X Factor mentor Louis Walsh said: "They are beyond excited about working with Vanilla Ice. I've never seen them so excited!" The twins turned up at the Glasgow auditions hoping to make it through to Boot Camp. From the start, they made an impression on Simon Cowell. Albeit, a negative one: "Guys, why are you talking with American accents?" he asked, clearly irritated. "You're from Ireland, be Irish! You don't need to be American."

Remember Boot Camp? John & Edward teamed up with Miss Fitz and soloist Sian Paley to sing the Timbaland song Apologize. Only one of them was on stage so Dannii asked about the other: "Yeah, where is my twin?" came the robotic response. At the prompt, said twin back-flipped (rather messily) onto the stage. "Oh, here he is!" his sibling said. Simon rolled his eyes in disgust. Yes, it was cheesier than a Gorgonzola factory (they'll never win an Oscar with that performance) but John and Edward stole the show without singing a note. Takes a special kind of talent to do that...

Did these two really think they were the great singing stars of tomorrow? Now that it's all over, they can always audition for VO5 adverts.

The twins were backed by quite a few celebrities. Robbie Williams, who chose X Factor for his comeback TV performance, revealed that he's a fan. "Go for the twins," he told the audience on the night. They responded with deafening boos, but he insisted: "John and Edward all the way."

John and Edward sign autographs for their fans. As you can see, their fans come in all shapes, sizes, genders and ages. TV critic Grace Dent is a huge Jedward fan. On her Twitter page a couple of weeks ago, she said: "I am genuinely excited about what John and Edward will do on Saturday." Once the show was underway, she tweeted: "Someone just handed me a cup of tea and a chunky KitKat and Jedward are coming on. This must be what smoking a rock feels like."

The funniest thing about John and Edward's very first audition (apart from the singing) came courtesy of Cheryl Cole. She asked them where they see themselves in 15 years time: "I see myself being older," John replied. Hahahahahahaha!

For their 18th birthday, John and Edward were apparently surprised by Whitney Houston. The diva - who gave X Factor host Dermot O'Leary a hilariously awkward interview - is said to have sung Happy Birthday to them.

Jedward definitely brought out the worst in Simon Cowell... just when I thought he'd gone soft. Gems include this exchange with Louis Walsh: Simon: "Nasty, selfish brats!" Louis: "No. Innocent children, Simon. Put down 'yes'." Simon: "You're crazy!" Louis: "No Simon, I'm not." Simon: "They're vile, little creatures who'd step on their mother's head to have a hit." Don't hold back Simon - say how you really feel.

The boys once bumped into Pussycat Dolls in a Dublin hotel bar and sang to them. The girls invited them to an after-party show (probably to shut them up) but sadly, John and Edward were too young to go. They say their ultimate dream is to entertain and keep audiences happy - well, they're certainly doing that. Who cares if they can't sing?

Showbiz agent Jonathan Shalit, the man who discovered Charlotte Church, told The Sun: "The twins can't really sing, but they are likeable. If they win, it would be Simon Cowell's worst nightmare. Look at the success he's had with Leona Lewis in America. Can you seriously see him taking John and Edward across the pond and telling everyone they're the next big thing?" If only they'd won!

Michael Deacon, the Daily Telegraph's TV Features Editor, also backed Jedward. He said: "There's only one man who could halt the heroic little wretches' march to victory: Louis Walsh. Whatever happens, Jedward's mentor must not cave in to his career-long habit of lumbering his acts with earnest ballads. He must not try to present Jedward as some sort of proper band, or make unreasonable demands such as that they dress sanely or dance in time or sing in tune."

On Graham Norton's show, Michael Bublé said of the boys: "They are soooo cute... You know what they sang today for me? They sang, She Bangs by Ricky Martin. And all I could think was neither one of them knows what the hell they're talking about! They're very sweet though, they're very sweet."

A scenario for Simon Cowell: suppose John and Edward's mum had given birth to quads? Hahahahahaha! Anyway, here's a snap of the boys getting ready for their weekly diss from Simon. "I am trying to find something here..." he said after watching their rendition of Robbie Williams' Rock DJ. "I've got to hand it to you, you are amazingly thick-skinned, I'll give you that. To succeed in this business, you've got to have thick skin. It was a musical nightmare, the whole thing. I just had this horrific thought of you winning the competition; it would be a disaster. And the truth is, Louis has put you through because you're Irish."

Following Simon's moan about the boys being through because they're Irish, Louis Walsh retorted: "People in Ireland can't vote." After watching the Rock DJ performance, he said: "Yes, guys I did take a chance and I'm glad you entertained. Everyone is talking about you. People have been giving you a hard time and they've never met you. You are really nice people and people should vote for you to keep you in even if it is just to annoy Simon!"

Reports suggest that X Factor bosses considered moving the show's contestants following complaints of 'lewd behaviour'. Neighbours say that Jedward's teenage fans had been 'behaving inappropriately' - in short, young girls flashed the twins

It's fair to say that the twins divided X Factor viewers - they were the Marmite of the competition. In the very first live show, John and Edward performed Rock DJ by Robbie Williams; at least they got through it. Cheryl said: "I have got the most admiration for you for getting out there with the amount of stick you've received. You can't sing - fact. But here you are in the final 12 so thanks for coming out here tonight."

This was the week the Jedward phenomenon truly took off: the twins gave a horrifically unforgettable rendition of Britney's Oops I Did It Again... in red PVC! I can just imagine what fetishists made of them. I think Simon put it best: "What the bloody hell was that?" Hahahahahahahahahahahaha! Say what you like about these two, they were always entertaining. Even if it was for the wrong reasons.

Jedward - how do I love thee? Let me count the campness. There's the song choice for starters: She Bangs by Ricky Martin - can't get more camp than that. Then there's the routines... look at the picture. Need I say more? The hair, the clothes - where do I stop? Cheryl said: "John and Edward... you're fast becoming my guilty pleasure every week." And so say all of us.

Simon credited Jedward for staying in the competition, but accused them of "possibly destroying Queen's career". Dannii wasn't sure if she'd look forward to hearing them on the radio. Cheryl felt like she was "rocking to that song." Louis claimed "I meet kids and all they want to see is John & Edward."

Not many people can boast of upstaging Jim Carrey at his own swanky movie premiere, but Jedward can. So far, thanks in part to Danyl Johnson imploding somewhat, the boys have been the story of X Factor 2009. In Movie week, they 'sang' Ghostbusters and landed in the bottom two. A huge row broke out when they survived the sing off at Welsh teenager Lucie Jones' expense.

Musician Calvin Harris apologised after pulling a stunt during this Jedward performance of Queen/David Bowie classic Under Pressure. He jumped on stage brandishing a pineapple on his head and bending over to point at his rear end. The twins kept going despite the unexpected interruption, prompting their mentor Louis Walsh to say: "When the idiot jumped up from the audience it didn't even faze you guys."

Wham! Bam! They're out! In the end, it was a performance of Wham Rap! that brought the Jedward express to a grinding halt. The boys ended up in the bottom two with their fate in Dannii's hands: "I'm going to have to judge it as I've judged it the whole time," she said. "On the premise that it's a singing competition I will have to send home John and Edward." Bah!

Bookmakers were absolutely right to predict a Joe McElderry win. However, the twins may just eclipse his fame; lucrative offers are flooding in for the boys. Something tells me we haven't heard the last of Jedward...(my view)-They can NOT sing or dance so why the fuck are these fuckers so popular? like many other gay performers..are jedward gay? because girls seem to go for the fancy camp fag look!plus they do try to dance.....like fags do.....COME OUT OF THE CLOSET GUYS.....SORRY"QUEENIES"
